Rated 5 out of 5Â by anonymous best rod i ever purchased
this rod is the best for bottom fishing or surface.i just purchased this on saturday and went deep sea on sunday and caught lots of sculpin, sand dabb, and brown rockfish with this ugly stick rod. It's great because you can really feel the sensitivity.VERY GREAT ROD..OTHERS WILL BE LIKE 150 BUCKS AND WONT BE AS GOOD BUT THIS IS THE ONE ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Blackwater Toughest Rod I know of
I love Ugly Sticks for tough, down and dirty fishing, such as huge catfish or stripers. Both of these species are famous for going crazy when they get up to the boat, and many rods are broken with the fish usually getting away at this crucial moment. You can almost forget that with an Ugly Stick. They CAN be broken, but it sure does take a LOT of effort to do so.
They can cast lures and withstand lines considerably in excess of the rod's ratings. I don't think you can find a better tough duty rod anywhere, and ESPECIALLY a the $30 price level. Money well spent, in my experience.
They're not for impressing your buddies with glitz and shine, but they'll git'r done when many, many other rods will disappoint.

This rod's guides has aluminum oxide inserts, and I wonder how it will work with braid lines, particulary with Power Pro surerline. Thanks!
