Rated 5 out of 5 by 6'6" Ugly Stick I really like the way Ugly Sticks gives the feel of a fish nibbling on the bait. Just as important is the guarantee that backs these rods. I have 6 Ugly Stick rods, some have a 5 year guarantee and others come with 7 year guarantee. The Ugly Sticks are not what I think a professional fisherman would use. But for just having fun fishing and teaching my grandchildren how to fish, and still be able to use again these rods are just perfect. I have never had a Ugly Stick brake, and they have handled some abuse I never thought a rod could endure. The price is affordable and I use the Bass Pro open face reel. So for under $60. I have a combonation that makes fishing affordable, and for a grandpa to teach and give to my grand kids. and like always Bass Pro has just what I need, when I want it. September 27, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Guides Failed i bought this rod two seasons ago. Used it for inshore Striper Fishing. Recently I lost two nice fish when the 30lb braid broke. Thought is was the line at first. It was a split tip guide ring. I am minus two stretch lures and spool of braid. I replaced the tip rather than spend all the money to mail in the rod. Took it out last week and line broke again, lost another stretch. Another crack, third guide down! I'm tossing this rod, not worth mailing it back, paying $9.95, etc.... I presume they got one bad batch of guides, because i have two other Ugly Sticks that are older and they are fine. I recommend you check the guides carefully after each use. December 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by tough as nails Ugly stik make a really well built rod, they are my go to rods and you dont have to pamper them like the more expensive graphite rods (which I have broken my fair share of). If it one tough rod that can handle anything you throw at it and still put the results in the boat, its Ugly stik that wins. July 27, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best pole I own I bought this pole in the June of 2007. I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. I have a Bass Pro Tourney Special baitcast reel on it. It works like a champ. I use it mainly for catfishing but also bass fishin. Nothing can beat an Ugly Stik. March 9, 2009

Details:
This rod's guides has aluminum oxide inserts, and I wonder how it will work with braid lines, particulary with Power Pro surerline.
Thanks!

A:
Shouldn't be a problem - this is a decent and comfortable rod - I bought mine summer 2010 and used it to throw spoons bucktails and lures for stripers at Indian River Inlet - nice rod.
