I got this for my son for his 6th birthday. All my catfish rods are Ugly Stick Catfish rods, and they rule. This rod will function for my son for years to come.

I don't think that braid would be the best option for a spincast reel. Spincasts are designed more for use with monofilaments. If you really want to use braid, you may want to look at getting a baitcast reel.
Yes it does and I believe it is 20 lb. test. I would recommend re-spooling with 10 lb. when it's time to replace the line as you will get longer casts with the lighter line and 10 lb. test is fine for catching most freshwater fish including large carp and catfish.
