Casts great even with 30 lb test line. I feel like I can handle any size fish with this pole.

I do quite a bit of catfishing on White Rv and the Ohio Rv and use this rod set up with the Abu Garcia 6600 Red, lined with 65lb braided Spiderwire.
I found this rod to be able to handle the big cats 30 lbs and up keeping control of the fish on the reel ins fishing from my boat or bank. Casts great and durable on tight line fishing for the medium size cats 30 lbs and smaller.
The glow tips is an advantage fishing with black lights.
I owned 4 of these rods and just purchased two more.

Rated 5 out of 5 great deal
I use the 7' medium heavy action rod in the line and I've had nothing but a great experience with it. I use it for fishing channel cats on the Ohio River and other local waters and I've never had any trouble handling them, especially in the heavy current of the Ohio. I've caught numerous channels in the 10 to 20 lb range and I've never had any doubts about its capability of handling the fish. For 30 dollars this is a steal if you're a catfisherman, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable, quality catfishing rod. Once again the people at Shakespeare have lived up to the tradition of durability and quality in their Ugly Stik line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by coolcat good for average size fish
These rods have landed a few really nice fish over 25#s and one at 47 . Man the whole time I thought that last fish would break it but it hung in there like a champ to the end . This rod meats my demands because I don't really target the big girls anyway . I only chase after the 2-15 pound class of cats and only because some of my family and friends need a kittycat fix from time to time. Left up to me I'm chasing after crappie 1st and largemouth next. Anyway like I said they perform great for my target size. I have arthritis and the big ones don't appeal to me. I have fished with team catfishrods ( 8' heavy glass rods ) and I promise you that when I caught a 35#er with one I was for sure convinced . They have alot more horsepower and shock absorbtion. They are expensive at $100 you will really have to want one bad. If I was more of an avid cat chaser I would definitely be looking to buy those or another like it ( heavy/e-glass/mod. action ) type of rod . So for the reason that these rods are a little weak for the big girls but really tough and able to catch them they get 4 stars . Not to shabby for $30 .
