Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by tuna .... no problem! I've matched this rod to Penn Senators 6/0 and Penn Internationals 30 TWs for tuna and mahi mahi. While it over-powers most of the mahi mahi I boat, it's well matched for tuna in the 40-60 lb range. In addition, I've managed 100+ lb bluefin on these outfits as well. Since we run a Grady with twin outboards off a transom bracket I prefer the 6' rod for more clearance. Overall, I think an excellent value. July 20, 2007
Rated 4 out of 5 by Over Kill I bought this rod to stop 60 - 70 pound amberjacks to stop them running to the safety of the rocks, it does great job but if you catch something smaller it is an over kill.I use it with Penn 114H Special Senator reel any fish around 25 pounds is like a little macarel to this combination. It is a bit too stif rod but deffinitely reliable. For Aftco all roller class the price is great. get it and stop it. January 27, 2007

This is s good tuna jigging stick so I'm assuming that you are asking about the heavier rod. You would want a substantial conventional reel, size 30 or bigger with heavier line (60 - 100 lb) for targeting pelagics.

A basic star drag reel like the the Penn Senator would work but I like the Daiwa Saltist because it is light weight. If you favor a 2-speed lever drag system, the Avet EX and Shimano Tiagra are my favorites but these are quite a bit heavier.
