I purchased this rod as a starter because I wanted to spend more $ on my reel.
I am going on 2 years and have not replaced this rod yet.
I have my Shimano 6500B mated to this rod and I love it. I fish at many railroad bridges and the lenght of the handle is long enough that I can plant it into the 2 railroad rails and my 6500B is off the ground.
I have stated in my other reviews that you get what you pay for. This holds true in this case too, but find another rod in this class for the money that can do a better job and is balanced to your reel...Good luck.

yes it´s! Only for "bait casting and waiting" 300 cmyou can use less long rod!
If you are going to fishing by bait it´s okey other way you have to choose less long!

I currently have the Ugly Stick 12ft Heavy action rod. Purchased it for snagging Spoonbill in OK. However the butt of the rod is almost 3.5ft making it very combersome. I enjoy the overall action and length of the rod but I need a shorter butt. On Ugly Stick's 10ft rod what is the length of the butt from the reel down to the end? I need as much lenght as possible in a rod but I can't have a rod whose butt makes up 1/4 of it's total lenght.Answers
