Rated 4 out of 5 by Great value Bought this for my son--durable, gets it done from croakers to rockfish---great value for the money--it is a SHAME we can't make it in AMERICA and sell it at the same price. January 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by 12' XH Ugly Stik This rod is a behemoth! I bought it for snagging paddle fish. It works really well. You can launch your rig a mile, and pull up a ton of line with every pull. Also has a ton of backbone for setting the hook and fighting the fish. You can really lean on this rod and it can take it. One drawback for snagging purposes is it can wear you out in no time. It is a workout to use for this purpose. I personally could live with a much shorter handle. The handle section is about 4' long. Can be awkward at times, but is handy for casting long distances. If you need a rod to launch a heavy rig long distances for big fish, this will do the job! March 11, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5' 6" Heavy Rod I bought this rod to keep behind the seat of my truck so I can fish for the big cats anytime I want to. I keep this and an ultralight to catch bluegill for bait then the fishing starts. LOL. So far the rod has held up well and I am sure it will well into the future like all my ugly stiks have. Have no fear buying any Ugly Stik in my opinion. February 21, 2011

I currently have the Ugly Stick 12ft Heavy action rod. Purchased it for snagging Spoonbill in OK. However the butt of the rod is almost 3.5ft making it very combersome. I enjoy the overall action and length of the rod but I need a shorter butt. On Ugly Stick's 10ft rod what is the length of the butt from the reel down to the end? I need as much lenght as possible in a rod but I can't have a rod whose butt makes up 1/4 of it's total lenght.
