Better than the expensive one
We bought this reel for our 11yr old daughter. My husband has a reel that we spent $150 on and he put his up and started using hers. It casts really smooth and the my favorite feature is the clicking sound it makes when the fish is pulling on line!

Worst reel I have ever owned.
I bought this in a rod/reel combo for my son. He fished with it twice and it broke. Would not retrieve the line and gears could be heard grinding. Shakespear should be ashamed to put their name on this product. Thankfully Bass Pro has a great return policy. For a starter set up go with Zebco.

Shakespeare Synergy TI 14
This reel is packed with all kindsa goodies from the bearing, the drag, the 2 line pick up guides, bait clicker, and smooth operation. But I must say this is the second one ive had and this one after 2 times of use the button broke. The first one lasted a few years before the line pick up guides wore out and the button went shortly after, The second, the button broke the second time on the water cutting my fishing day outta town short. My fault for only having 1 pole with me. Although Bass Pro Shops came through with a free replacement as much as it saddens me to say I wouldnt recomend these reels.

Its not the best reel, but good for the price. I use it bass fishing and it works fine! The drag stopped working on me once, but i got it fixed and it working fine again!
