  • Anti-Backlash System™ solves backlash problem
  • Excellent entry level baitcast reel
  • Two ball bearings plus a one-way instant anti-reverse bearing
  • Machined aluminum handle
  • Comes spooled with 10 lb. line

Make the leap to baitcast easy with Shakespeare®'s E-Z Cast® Low Profile Baitcast Reel featuring Anti-Backlash System™ technology. The number one concern anglers have with baitcast reels is line tangling backlashes, but Shakespeare's Anti-Backlash System technology solves the problem and allows anglers to learn how to confidently cast a baitcast reel. The revolutionary Anti-Backlash System automatically controls the spool and allows for tangle-free casting. Once proficient at casting, anglers can turn the Anti-Backlash System off, transforming the E-Z Cast into a standard low profile baitcast reel. The E-Z Cast Low-Profile Baitcast Reels come spooled with 10 lb. line and feature a machined aluminum handle and two ball bearings plus a one-way instant anti-reverse bearing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by great reel great reel but ive had better still a good reel for the money March 5, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not as expected I purchased two E Z Shakespeare reels for grandkids and find they are easy to use but, the drag on the line does not allow an easy free flow of the line - thus requiring heavier, larger lures and weights. Heavy lures are not usually your choice for this size reel! EWH January 4, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Ok for practice, NOT for fishing Bought this for the wife, to try and get her to use something besides spincast reels. Works good for practice, but set the hook in 1 decent size bass, and something inside this thing broke. Now the spool goes backward, as fast as forward. Will be returning this week. July 9, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Okay Purchase I just bought this from Bass Pro Shops. I did my research and read the reviews on this reel. I practiced a little in the backyard and for the most it did what it said it was going to do. I had a little backlash. I took the reel out fishing from the bank of the Delaware River. It cast nice and it did slow the line down fast so it would not totally backlash but I had some that was easy to fix. It felt smooth reeling and casting. The problem I had was the On/Off latch on the top would turn Off the Backlash Preventer and wouldn't you know? I got a super birds nest I had to completely cut out. Not happy about having to find new fishing line. The other thing was no where to thread new line through to start a knot. Make sure the On switch stays On. Otherwise just buy a Baitcaster and practice with it. June 11, 2012

In the picture it looks red, not pink. I would love to buy that color if it is red. If so, which color looks better?

Yes and No it does not work everytime. I had some small backlashes but easy enough to spool out and fix. But the On /Off switch needs to be on and make sure you check it before you cast. If you don't you will have the mother of all birdsnest in the reel.

I believe it works every time, but if there was a malfunction or a part was missing then the ant-backlash might not work then. And if you switch the anti-backlash off then yes it will create a bird's nest

We used up to 1/2oz crank bait with no problem. this reel works very well you just need practice casting and adjust the mechanical brake for lure weight.

It works by slideing a little bar that is on top the reel to the on or off position. Distance depends on how heavy your weight is. 10'- 35'+
