3dB VHF Powerboat/Sailboat masthead antennas are designed for mast mounting on sailboats or for smaller craft that "heel" on the waves. Sending out a broader signal than a 6dB antenna and ensuring better signal dispersal in rough seas (but less range). Flexible whip styles provide the best horizon-to-horizon coverage.
