I bought this safe for when I travel by air and need to check my conceal-carry handgun in my checked luggage. Also works well for storing my handgun in my nightstand and is easily accessible with the electonic keypad when in a hurry.
This safe is large enough to hold my handgun while in its holster and the removed magazine inside a "single mag duty pouch".
I carry and store in this safe, a Springfield XDm 40cal, 4.5" barrel length, full size semi-auto handgun... in my leather OWB holster, along with my removed magazine pouch or an extra pouch... with room to spare!!!
Even though this safe is not designed or certified by Sentry as a "gun safe"... it works very well and as well (if not better) as any portal "travel or in-car/camper" safe I have used. I like the electronic lock which is fast and easy to use and the key back-up works flawlessly as well in case the batteries were to go dead for some reason.
For the money (which is not much)... it is a better value than other portal safes that have a manual combination lock or operate with a key only... and this one is larger and holds more!!!
Hey... buy it and try it for yourself... Bass Pro will take it back if your not 100% satisfied... but if your like me you'll keep it!!!

This portable safe is very good for its design. It has two possible combinations, (great for your partner when you are not there). It is very sturdy and is great for camping . The only thing that I would recommend to improve it would be to put a waterproof seal around the edge, otherwise, great product!

Very light thin metal with incredibly cheap lock. One can access this with a screw driver or simply forcefully pull it open with two hands. Not appropriate for securing a firearm.
