Great booties for boats and very shallow wading

"I bought these booties to use when fishing from a boat. I need to keep my feet dry, especially in winter, since I need to get partially wet to help launch and recover the boat. I use them with flats boots (separate review) and they work great." They come high enough to keep out water for boat chores and together with the boots, keep my feet warm and dry.

I tested them in a swimming pool both partially submerged and totally submerged up to a depth of 4 feet for 2 minutes. There were no leaks,

I gave the SeakSkinz socks four stars instead of five is because protection against the cold was fair. I use them fishing out of my kayka this March water temp was about 58* and I can feel it. But my feet did stay dry so that was a big plus. Will buy another pair.

Several sites have very negative reviews of these socks -- anyone used them for a while? I have read that they delaminate and don't keep water out after just a use or two. Any info would be appreciated.Answers

I've been using these socks for nearly a decade. The one time they have delaminated for me, is when i wasn't carefull while removing or didn't roll them open to put them on. I was in a hurry in both cases, with the same pair of socks. They can't be 'pulled' on or off, they will tear apart. As far as i'm concerned, it's worth the tiny amount of effort i takes to be kind to them and not just rip them off like a bandaid...lol. If they get punctured by cactus, or thorns or other poky things, they will leak, but they are compression socks, so it's a small seep really. Simply put though, if they aren't taken care of properly (ie abused unreasonably...) they will fail, just like anything else. I'm still amazed how much abuse they do take though. I use them for deer, elk, pheasant and early waterfowl hunting and can get three years out of them with out ever washing them.A:Â
If you have read that these socks are not any good, then you need to stop reading. They are the best outdoor socks that I have ever worn.A:Â
i used them on a hunting trip had no problems with them feet stayed dry used them with a liner and by them selfs when you wash them instructions say hand wash only1 of 1
