I purchased these socks to use during the World's Toughest Mudder competition, a 24-hour race to complete the most laps of a 10-mile course containing 30+ obstacles.
Conditions to be expected: wet, muddy, freezing cold, physically demanding and mentally punishing.
These socks became ineffective very quickly.
Although they kept water that was at a depth lower than the height of the sock out, any water that was over the height of the sock leached in and was contained. I would have been better going with a neoprene, wet-suit-like sock.
I can see where these may be useful hiking/trekking through shallow water, but any submersion or river crossings deeper than the height of sock and you're asking for trouble.

I combined these with a pair of jungle boots (that drain) and my feet were the most comfortable they have been in years. I wade through a lot of ponds and streams and these were great, I didn't have to care how high the water was. I wore regular socks underneath and they were sweaty, but my feet stayed dry. The skinz did not dry from day to day but I only hunt three days in a row. The size is a little weird in that they are kinda baggy on my size 9 feet.

These socks will keep you dry, but not necessarily warm. I wore a pair last year while elk hunting on Colorado and really liked them, but only for the dryness, not for warmth. These are fairly thin and if you wear insulated boots, they will do fine, but are a little pricey for what they do. Also they can be a little difficult to wash because of being waterproof. I hand washed them both right side out and inside out and dried them with a blow dryer and they did great. Dropping into the washer will not work, they will come out full of water and dirty.
