I use the forty pound test to make pike leaders.
Last year out of 39 pike I had just one bite off.
And 6 of those pike were between 36 and 41 inches.
My fishing buddy was using steel leaders and I outfished him 5 to 1.
On a single trip I boated 7 quality pike he got nothing, same lures and equipment only difference was the leaders. I don't know if it's the invisibility factor or if it allows the lure to run more lifelike but it's not just random chance there is something to it.
This year he is switching to Seaguar.
It's thin enough to tie a conventional knot and heavy enough to take serious abuse, love it.

This fluorocarbon line is just what the doctor ordered...a line that can be spliced to hollow braid. Excellent for wind-ons.

what knots should I use if I buy a 50lb+ seaguar fluoro leader and attach it to a 20lb braid?should I add a snap swivel at the end? or tie direct to crankbait?

I use a knot where you make two loops through the swivel and the twist the tail around the main line five times and go back through both loops you made at first and pull tight, makes a beautiful knot that will not slip or break.I would not use a snap swivel myself I have have back luck with them and big fish, think I would just straight tie.
A:Â
I use a uni to uni knot with 6 turns on the mono to 10 turns on the braid.Swivel or direct, it's your choice. Either way is good.
A:Â
albright or uni/uni..don't think you need a swivel with a crankbait..speaking about saltwater..A:Â
The Albright is a good knot for these two diameters, If you want to use a swivel use a barrel swivel between the two lines and then tie direct to crankbait.A:Â
I would use a quality barrel swivel and Palomar knots for the line to line connection and a surgeons loop to the crankbait if it has no o ringA:Â
the seaguar knot (overhand knot that you twist 3 times and go throughA:Â
use the seaguar knot. take th 2 lines and make a loop out of them, twist the loop 3 times then bring the acess line through the loop1 of 1
