Great rod holder Very strong and pefect for trolling or just holding an extra rod while fishing. I have had no problems with it at all. I have two on my boat, and they are easy to install. February 7, 2011
great product I have 4 of these mounted on my pontoon boat. They are an excellent product. I have grand kids who fish with me. If the bite isn't good they set their poles in the holder and turn the lock ring. there is not any way their poles can be pulled out of the holders. They are very easy to remove after fishing just lift up a little and tern to release position pull up. the mounting bracket stays and the holder comes off also you pick up a little and you can position the holder in any position in 358 degree swing. the wing on the side of the holder allows you to set the angle from straight up to 90 degrees down. Scottie Rod Holders An excellent product. I have 8 flush mounts on my boat and have never had any problems with them. I like the fact that there are several colors to choose from. They install easy and best of all, they stay put. June 26, 2006
Good Stuff Being in control of a boat when trolling for Australia's famous Barramundi meant that i needed somewhere to look after my rod while controlling the boat. This required a rod holder that was strong enough to resist the solid hits from the barramundi without breaking, i am pleased to stay that i am just back from the first trial with the holders and they performed brilliantly. I also purchased the rail mount adaptors at the same time and they also do what they are expected to do, in all very very good. The service from Bass Pro is second to none, thank you, the only thing is i forgot to order a Stanley vaccum flask at the same time, oh well next time October 30, 2011

I was just wondering if these rod holders are strong enough to handle planer boards or dipsy divers? Maybe leadcore also? I especially wonder about the triple holder sectup with only one mounting point? Thanks

Details:
Does this particular rod holder work for both Bait Caster and Spinning Reels as well? I like the hard plastic locking ring versus the soft plastic strap which is available on the other Scotty Rod Holder.

They will work for most any rod as long as it doesn't have a trigger for your finger.

Yes it does. I have used it for heavy boat rods and down-riggers while trolling, spinning rods drifting for Walleye, and casting with level whined and still fishing with all types. I find them to be a quality product for all.

Yes it will work for both types of reels, but the spinning reel will be upside down which is not a problem. The solid ring is far more secure than the soft plastic strap.

Work well with either and are foam lined . no scuffs as the plastic is poly and is not hard enough to cause damage

The Scotty Rod Holder will stay on a kayak just as well as it will stay on a boat, just ensure you have the holder seated into it's base properly.
