An excellent flyline with superior floatabliity and great casting. One very big difference I noticed right away however that might deter some flyfishers was the added noise when casting this line. It is quite noticable and takes some time to get used to.

After the frustrations of having to send back many Orvis lines, from the Wonderlies all the way to the newest Hydros line for a plethora of issues from not wanting to float to failing welded loops it was time to switch companies.....four lines returned was enough for me.
I wanted the most durabe, and THE best fly line out there, and I found it. First use it blew the Orvis Hydros out of the water in every way. Easy to cast, roll casting is effortless...it is a night day difference between the two lines. The texture is not bad at all, as long as you are not TIGHTLY holding the line and stripping fast, it will NOT cut you. The feel of the line actually feels better to hold than other fly lines. The texture is constant, whereas other lines has flat spots and deformities when stripping line back.
The price IS high, but I am positive this line WILL last twice as long as other lines even in the $75 price range. I've put my line through a ton already. I've stepped on it with studded wading boots a ton of times, and nothing has happened. I've got it jammed between sharp rocks and boulders and pulled it out, still nothing...and I've had to toss a few other lines because they could not hold up to that abuse. I am now making the switch to ALL Sharkskin lines, and my last Orvis line is on its way back in for a refund, One negative however I will say is, if your line wrapped around the butt end of your rod (around the first guide of your rod) and you strip streamers or cast out a bunch of line real hard, the line will end up rubbing on your rod because it is wrapped, ending up in some friction. I haven't seen any damage on my rod, but I have inch markers on my Hydros rod and it has worn one of them off a little bit because I've been careless and haven't noticed the line wrapped around my rod. About the guides, my guides are still in perfect condition, and I think as long as you don't have a very cheap rod with very cheap guides the line will not damage your guides at all. As for the sound, I don't even notice, and it's hardly that loud at all. You will NOT regret buying this line, I am hooked on it!

Sharkskin delivers as promised. I have not had issues with finger cuts. The welded loop started to come undone after a few weeks. I used 6/0 fly tying thread and a thin layer of head cement and it is as good as new.
I agree with other comments - casts great and no memory!
The 'singing' line took a little time to get used to and is no longer a bother.

I use this line on lakes in New Hampshire. Casts beautifully, retrieves nicely. Very little memory. I use it with a 78" furled leader and 6' of 4lb test tippet. Turns the fly over beautifully, even in moderate head winds. This is the right line!
