The Schumacher SC-1000A is one of the best chargers for the money that I have owned. Small, light and works like a charm. The auto feature to a trickel is great. Would recommend to anyone.

I have TWO 12V batteries for my trolling motor which is a 24V and they're wired up in series. IF I connect this charger to ONE of the batteries, will it charge the ONE battery up or both since they're wired in series?I need a portable charger so I can either charge ONE battery and switch the cables and then charge the second battery. I'd also use this to charge my primary starting battery.

Batteries wired in series (like a flashlight) give double the voltage (two 12 volt batteries wired in series makes 24 volts but your amperage stays Batteries wired in series (two 12 volt batteries wired in series makes 24 volts but your amperage stays constant.) To charge both batteries at the same time you need to make sure they are wired in parallel. The two batteries should be connected to each other positive to positive and negative to negative. Then attach the charger positive to the positive on one battery and the negative to the negative of the OTHER battery. Do not hook both leads up to one battery. It will obviously take longer to charge two batteries than it will to charge one. If they are set up to run as 24 volts (wired in series), you will either need to disconnect the jumper wire that connects the two batteries and charge them as two 12 volt batteries or use a 24 volt charger.Thanks

Yes. This charger will charge Motorcycle and Garden Tractor batteries too. Use the 2 AMP or 6 AMP setting for these. 10 AMP is not recommended for that small of a Battery.

When an automatic charge is performed, the charger switches to the maintain mode automatically after the battery is charged. Charge completion is indicated by the CHARGED (green) LED. When lit, the charger has stopped charging and switched to the Maintain Mode of operation.A:Â
It not only will stop but after 21 days of nonuse it will cycle the batteries to give them a longer life, and if your starting battery charges up before your trolling motor batteries it will split that 5 amps between the trolling motor batteries so they charge faster.1 of 1
