Developed in cooperation with the U.S. Military, government agencies, universities, and others; this Sawyer Clothing repellent offers superior protection from disease-carrying biting insects. The active ingredient, Permethrin, is a synthetic molecule similar to those found in natural pyrethrum which is taken from the Chrysanthemum flower. Not only does this product repel insect, but will actually kill ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites and more than 55 other kinds of insects. Sawyer Permethrin insect repellents are for use with clothing, tents, and other gear. A single application lasts 6 washings. It will not stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or any of your outdoor gear.

Great, great product. I have used this on multiple outings for weeks at a time, and never had an issue with ticks, mosquitos, flies, etc. - in areas where I've previously been plagued. Others on the same outings were constantly dealing with insects that didn't come near me or my gear. An additional bonus is the effectiveness is the complete lack of odor after drying!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eric Very useful tick repellent
For work rather than recreation it doesn't last quite as long as the label indicates. Probably mostly due to more soiling on the clothes and heavier duty wash cycles reducing the permethrin concentration a bit. Definitely lasts 4 weeks, but with high tick populations there's a noticeable falloff in efficacy by 6 weeks. I usually spray work clothes the first of the month. Helps to have clothes that have fibers that tangle the ticks as they try to climb. Contact time x concentration = paralyzed ticks.
On my old work pants with fibers that pill up a bit, with a fresh spray ticks won't even make it up to my knees. With a five week old spray on clothes with a nice smooth weave they can make it up to the shirt collar, though even then they're much less likely to attach than they would be on untreated clothes. Once you've learned how to use it properly the biggest problem with the spray is that it isn't available in 1 gallon containers.

I work in tick, mosquito, and biting fly infested woods six days a week. I have been using this product for years and I am telling you professionally that this product works BETTER than what's stated on the label. It kills ticks within minutes and mosquito's and fly's don't come near.
Anyone that has a complaint about this product is not applying it right, or not following user directions correctly. I recommend this product to all of my clients and friends because it KILL'S TICKS!

Last year I did a fair amount of early season Bow Hunting and followed that up with Muzzleloading season and a solid week of hunting in warmer weather...All through the week I checked myself after each day in the field....NOT ONE TICK NOTED...was more than worth the price and time to treat my hunting gear...Bought another 3 bottles (24 oz) for this year....side note...My Vet recommended this for using on my dogs...Non toxic to dogs....(But don't use on cats)....
