I've been fishing ever since I've worn diapers and I've made a few rods, but I've never really done much fly fishing.
My wife and I have been doing a lot of camping in Mid to Western Maryland and there are a lot of 'fly only' fishing restrictions, so I took the plunge.
The rod is made using a great blank and descent guides. The butt and the handle are well finished. The rod itself just looks sharp and is well made.
The reel is smooth and has tight tolerances.
As a whole, the rig is well balanced.
One surprise for me was the case that it came with. The ad did not really mention a case. It is a real nice case that has separate sleeves for the rod sections and the case will accommodate the butt section with the reel on it. The case is also hard, so you don't worry really have to worry about something crushing your rig.
It has already caught me some rainbows and brookies and I'm real pleased with it and I would highly encourage someone to buy it as a first fly rod, they won't be disappointed.

I am a raw beginner . I have found this set to be well balanced and easy to use. Any problems I have had are definetely not equipment related. I look forward to a lifetime of use.

Great works very well, easy casting, reel is smooth. The only thing that I would recommend is to install the line and, backing and leader on the reel before shipping.
