1st time out, it broke into 3 pieces while choping a 1/2" sapling. I am now concerned about getting it replaced, it was a Christmas present.

The Chety it self is very nice and a good tool. Iam a SOG kinda guy and love their knives. The sheath is not going to last you very long, due to the saw back going in and out of the sheath. But for the price you cant expect them to provide a kydex sheath that big. Would be nice, ill make my own. The grip is very nice and comfy, the blade is very sharp and holds up to choppin stuff up. Great buy for the money.

blade chips easily on larger wood and branches on my third one refuse to use it want a nice machete buy ontario or cold steel you will not be disappointed

i am 68 and have been hunting for 61 years. i have owned hundreds of cutting tools over the years. i just purchased a SOG Machete. the third blow on a 1" limb, the blade bent. about the tenth blow, a two inch section broke out of the blade. on my second use, another one inch section broke out of the blade. I HAVE USED IT TWO (2) TIMES AND I AM MISSING 3"' OF BLADE. This thing is more like a kids toy, than an adult cutting tool. buyers beware. There is definitely something wrong with the metal in this blade.
