SOG SOGfari Machete - 13''
Looks cool but...
I got this machete in a combo pack with a hatchet and folding knife. I know that SOG has a reputation for producing tough and reliable gear. I hadn't used the machete yet and took it with me on a recent hike. It sliced through brush with ease and I was so far impressed. When it came time to make a campfire I attempted to cross chop (make a diagonal cut from the left and then the right), the first cut sunk in pretty good and so did the next cut from the opposite direction. When I attempted to make a second set of cross chops I noticed that the blade didn't sink in quite as far. I pulled the blade back to inspect it. A 3" chunk of the blade had just broken off and the blade had a wave-like warp an inch on either side of the break. Now, you may be thinking "what are you doing trying to cut fire wood with a machete?" This was a small 1 1/2" branch that I was going to use for tinder. THE BLADE WAS DESTROYED AFTER 2 CUTS ON A 1 1/2" BRANCH!
I am incredibly disappointed with this machete and would not recommend purchasing one.
I will add a picture later if I can.

This was an excellant product for the price. It wasn't as sharp as I like out of the package, but a swipes down a sharpening steel and it cuts trees limbs like butter.
I had to try it out and had a little trimming in the back yard, so went to work. Small limbs (up to an inch) fell like they had been hit by a chainsaw. Small trees (up to 3 inches tooks only 2 or 3 slices to cut through. I also cleaned a chainlink fence of vines and tangle , hitting the fence on a couple of occasions, not intentionally. When I was done I cleaned the blade and was suprised that it was as sharp as when I started and was not damage from the fence in any way.

this thing is junk
tried it out on a 1 inch live oak, hit it once to cut the top out and the cutting edge of the blade was bent. Did not hit dirt, cut it 2 ft above the ground. tried to call company and no answer. not worth sending back for the price of return shipping. should've stuck with gerber

The first time i used the Sog machete it literally just broke in half while chopping a small limb ie. about 1.5" .Very disappointing. I did not expect this with SOG. I was going to mail it back to SOG but the mailing cost almost equaled the purchase price so I will make a 40 mile round trip to return it to Bass Pro Shop.
