Tried it and decided probably did not need it. Put it on 16' Mako Pro skif with Mercury 40 HP EFI. Hoping it would let me pop out to a plane quicker but really could not notice a difference. Install was easy but after drilling holes I'm committed. The clip does not work with my Mercury 40 HP. Over all no harm done but no real performance increase. September 20, 2012
SE 300 After putting a new heavier Honda on the rear of our 13' Whaler it picked up some minor problems that I wasn't thrilled about. After a couple hours of reading reviews on different Hydrofoils I decided on this one. With the bote in the water it took about 15 minutes while sitting on the dock for the install. Motoring out of the harbor at idle I could tell the engine trim was different than without the SE 300. Once out of the harbor I lightly bumped the throttle and the boat was on plane without bow rise. The boat rode and handled like I'd added 2' to it. In the Intercoastal Water Way it made an unbelievable difference in the Whaler. You can slowdown much slower and still be on plane. Rides much better in rough water. I'm really amazed at the difference. The best Bote $$ I've spent! June 3, 2012
As Advertised and More I have a 1994 16 ft Stratos 264 bass boat and recently repowered with a 03 90 hp Evinrude. The prop is a 14x19 and I was having a problem getting out of the hole and I didn't want to change props because of the cost of a new ss prop so did some research and decided to try the Sport 300. Sometimes you get it right and this was one of the times for me. It jumped out of the hole and improved the ride greatly. I highly recommend this to anyone who has the same problem as I. May 25, 2012
best add on you can buy put this on my 93 vision 18.5' bass boat with 150 johnson. i am 400 lbs plus and my fishing partner is 250 lbs, 3 batteries, 28 gallons of fuel.we always had a problem getting up on water. tried several different props too, no better.had pro's adjust jackplate, no help. put this on, took 30 minutes or less, drillled mine did not use clip. WOW, up on plane instantly. like a totally different boat.vision boats were bad to get you wet too, bad to plow.not this one anymore. this hydrofoil is not nearly as big and ugly as the old "whale tail" hydrofoils. i did not see much if any top end speed loss, i can still get into the low 50's which is plenty for me May 21, 2012

Found this answer on the manufacturers web site that might help answer yours: http://www.sesport.com/Questions.as...

"Will it help with prop cavitation?"

Yes. Prop cavitation/ventilation where the propeller takes in air on turns is damaging to your motor and lower unit. The crescent-shaped of the SE Sport helps to hold water more firmly around the prop than any other foil on the market.

The SE300 fits :

All sizes that have a cavitation plate larger than 5 inches wide, usually 40 horse power and up. Because the mounting holes on the SE Sport 300 are 4 inches apart, right to left (center to center), a 5 inch or smaller cavitation plate leaves less than ½ inch of metal from hole to the edge of the plate. The SE Sport 200 is recommended for cavitation plates 5 inches or less.

If your hole pattern is from a previously installed Stingray (trademark of Marine Dynamics, Inc.) or Hydro-tail (trademark of TH Marine Supplies, Inc.) the Sport will match this pattern..You may want to compare your hole pattern to ours on the installation page: http://www.sesport.com/Installation.... I had an older stingray classic myself, according to the mounting instructions, I moved the SE300 Hydrofoil ahead to where they suggested. The great thing about this product is that they give you easy to use template with instructions, I just followed them, drilled 4 more holes, my previous holes were covered up by the new hydrofoil, and everything worked great.

My Superguide v14 single console w/ 25hp 2stroke Mercury requires me to put more weight in the back of the boat when planing and running wide open. If I have someone else drive and I sit as far back on the boat as possible, the boat runs faster and engine 'frees up'. Changing pin position helps straight line running but then it cavitates horribly on the slightest turn. This seems so backwards to anything I've read or seen before. Will a hydrofoil help this situation???

I have always noticed less cavitation with one on my outboards. You must be using a short shaft OB, but I would think it would help, keeping water trapped under it, and not allowing air to be pulled into the prop from the top.
