The Ruger Vaquero Revolver combines an "Old West" single action look and feel with modern features competitive shooters and single action aficionados alike will appreciate. Popular among cowboy action competitors, the Vaquero features a rugged and reliable mid-size stainless steel frame and cylinder scaled-down to resemble the classic single-action revolvers of the late 1800's.  The revolver's pre-1962 ''XR-3'' design with steel grip frame and checkered, black grip panels deliver a true Old West feel. Ruger's patented transfer bar ignition system with loading gate interlock provides unparalleled security against accidental discharge.  A reverse indexing pawl and crescent-shaped ejector rod head provides easier loading and unloading, while the traditional beveled cylinder simplifies holstering. Internal lock beneath the right grip panel for added security. Blade front sight and notch rear sight.

Range candy! I got this mostly because I wanted a single action. I took it out to the range and shot it along with my .357mag to test the recoil of the 2 guns, shooting 125gr for the mag and 225gr for the .45. (both hollow points) Over all. I like the .45 better. less recoil and noise with a bigger bullet. Only issue is the plastic grips. They don't look good, and I don't like them. September 15, 2012
Excellence In Steel One of the best products for single action shooting to hit the market. Solid, smooth, and reliable. Ruger's rep for great products continues. Taken care of, this revolver will more than likely out live you and your next generation. I have several of the different barrel lengths, and calibers, and have never been let down. Factory ammo, hand loads, and so on run right through it. There are so many different accessories, parts, and gunsmiths who specialize in this weapon, I don't think Ruger will ever discontinue it. A:
44 magnum is quite bit more powerful than 45 LC .i reload both. some will disagree but i would not use 45LC for hunting especially large game. slow moving bullet with a lot of bullet drop at distance. 44 magnum i would use at close ranges
