This was my very first handgun purchase and I really enjoy this handgun and all its safety features. I wasnt exactly a novice at hundgun buying so I had no clue what I was purchasing. But through trial and error and practice Ive grown to know what I have and I love it and am looking forward to my next Ruger purchase.

I like this pistol so well I have bought 3 of them and sold my Glock and S&W. Great design and accurate.

i have a sr40 .great gun, low recoil , never had any problems with the last few thousand rounds i have put through it . my girlfriend who never shot before picked up the sr40 and started shooting with it . easy to take apart and clean and very dependable

I've had mine for better than a year, and I could be hear all day praising this gun. It preforms excellent for starters. It has a little bit more up-travel for a 9mm than I expected, but drops right back into place before you know it. The stainless slide is VERY attractive and the grip can be adjusted with the arch that slides out. With so many good reviews over the years, it was worth checking out.
Safety's are another reason that made me pick this gun. I have young daughters in the house and the added safety features are comforting without being a pain when shooting. I didn't notice the added trigger safety since it slides into place without any resistance. It's just designed to reduce misfires from bumps and drops, so it was a major winner to me. Also, when there is one in the chamber, a small indicator is pushed up making it easy to see if you forgot one (always double check anyways). A magazine safety keeps the gun from being able to fire if you don't have a magazine in(keep magazines in another location).
Disassemble/cleaning is easy and quick, and I have read ways for people to modify the safety features above (not everyone loves them).
Ruger is an amazing company. Period.
