by Aerodave Excellent .22 Pistol
I bought this pistol about 8 months ago for cheaper option of plinking at the range. I considered this Ruger (as well as other models of the Mark III and 22/45) and the Browning Buckmark. After I decided on this pistol over all other options, I have gone to the range with friends who have the Browning... I can say with absolute certainty that the Ruger is head and shoulders above the Browning. Both Brownings that I shot with have frequent 'failure to feed' and 'stovepipe jam' malfunctions when using the cheaper bulk ammunition. My Ruger ate through all ammunition without any malfunctions... including the numerous boxes and varieties of stuff that my friends gave me because it jammed their Buckmarks. The Ruger is also spot on accurate and feels much sturdier than the Buckmark. Bass Pro has a very good price on this variation (Mark III Hunter Stainless with 6.88" fluted barrel) of the Ruger... check Ruger's website for their MSRP.
The only thing that I can slightly complain about is the difficulty to break the gun down... THIS IS A VERY MINOR DRAWBACK. This gets easier over time as the gun breaks in and you get more practice. I would advise anyone attempting to break this gun down to search YouTube for instructional videos... they are quite helpful.
I would definitely refer anyone looking at a .22 semi-auto pistol to purchase a Ruger Mark III or 22/45!

I have an older MKII and picked up MKIII hunter (blued 6.75 barrel) for my grandson (17) . Fitted it with optic sight, 7 yards, 10 rds though a nickle - no problem. We shoot at least 100 to 200 rds each every weekend. While difficult at first to tear down to clean it gets easier with practice. Overall an outstanding choice for a first handgun. Lots of pratice for little money. Litterally thousands of rounds shot and not a single problem with either. Best of all its American Made!
