Had a problem with squirrels raiding my bird feeders. Tried scaring them away with rocks, then a slingshot. They just kept coming back and emptying my feeders. Went to BassPro Shop and was overloaded with what was available in pelet rifles. Decided on the Ruger Air Hawk simply because they make great "real" guns. Also bought the cheapest pelets they carry. Took me a few shots to get the scope zeroed in, and immediately started winning the war. This rifle is accurate! Those rats-with-fluffy-tails don't stand a chance. This rifle will knock a squirrel of a tree branch easily at over 200 yards. I'm no competition shooter (or professional sniper) and I consistently watched these guys drop shot after shot. The rifle is very well made and in spite of what some folks say, I think the scope is great and well matched to the rifle. I must admit, it's the only scoped rifle I've ever shot, but it's the scope that gets the kills, not my ability. I strongly recommend this product. No need to buy expensive rifles and top of the line ammo. This outfit gets the job done, and very accurately.

I bought this gun for hunting small animals and target shooting. It is accurate and powerful but very heavy and the scope and mounts are...meh but overall good buy

Rated 4 out of 5 by lilschnetz Powerful 177 pellet gun
Nice construction, good looking real wood stock. It's kind of heavy for some, but I like that. I bought this for problem critters around my property. I use to just "plink" them in the behind as a reminder....but that wasn't working. I had the scope on at first, but had troubles sighting it in. Probably just me, I'm more of an open sight shooter. Use Crossman HP premier....I read they are the most accurate with this gun. (I aggree) I got my first "tree rat" from about 40 yards, and it dropped him right there. (pellet with all the way through)
