Ridge Hunter Deluxe Ratchet Pruner
better than others
I used a "popular makers" ratchet shears. Each one snapped off in my hand on first outing. I bought these as a quick replacement while in the store. Figured for the price if they broke, so be it. I have been using the same ones for 3 years now. I use them for spring and fall turkey, bow, muzzleloader, and gun deer season, and I always carry them with me in the summer when maintaining stands, and shooting lanes. I actually bought 3 sets. I keep one in the truck, have one in my winter pack, and another in my summer pack.
Bought set for my hunting partner who had the same issues with another maker , and he swears by them. You can use these on bigger limbs than what is recommended, by putting on the limb, tighting a little, then turning them in a circle around the limb, and then once limb is groved, actually use the ratchet part to cut all the way through. I will not hunt with out these in my pack.

Tough but ratchet is a pain
These are tough and you can cut a pretty good size limb but the ratcheting mechanism is a pain to get it to work correctly. I have used these now all through bow season and thought in the beginning I just needed to figure out how to work them. But now I am convienced the design could have been better. I would recommend spending a little more money and but a better pair.

worst purchase ever
the very first time i used this item was on a tree branch no bigger than my finger and the blade which was thin and extremely brittle broke . since this item was brand new and i was in the woods deer hunting you can imagine my disappointment .

Better than Primos
I used the Primos shears for a while but the handle just snapped while I was using them. I replaced them with the HME Heave-Duty Ratchet shears. Their all metal construction and sharp blades cut a lot easier. For the price, an absolute bargain.
