Remington Core-Lokt ammunition was the first and original controlled expansion bullet and remains the standard of big-game bullet performance. Its level of reliability is only exceeded by the amount of game it has taken over the years. These cartridges feature the PSP (pointed soft point) Core-Lokt bullets. The Remington Core-Lokt design locks the progressively heavier jacket mid-section to the lead core, preventing separation, yet allowing maximum energy transfer. The result is a bullet that stays together on impact, expands in a controlled manner, and mushrooms uniformly to nearly twice the original diameter. 20 rounds per box.

About the only ammo I could find. Had been looking for a medium to long range rifle for hunting and settled on 270 because at least I could find ammo. Now 270 is getting difficult to find

Nailed a beer can from 70yrds with my Winchester Model 1894 30-30 built in 1924 with a "Peep" sight!!!

Remington's Core-Lockt bullets are basically the same. IMHO I believe that the difference between the Express Core-Lockt and the Whitetail Pro Core-Lockt is the box, and about $1-$1.50 in price. I do know my Mossberg 100 ATR will put a 5-shot group within 1" at 100 yards with the Remington Express Core-Lockt 165gr PSP rounds. Either way, it's a Core-Lockt and the only Core-Lockt I know of that is more of a "premium" bullet is the Core-Lockt Ultra Bonded which is about $7-$8 per box more than the others. With tubular magazines you need to use ammunition that has a projectile with a blunt or rounded tip. In most cases I've heard of, it was during the rifle's recoil that a pointed or spitzer type bullet would strike the primer of the forward round causing it to ignite.A:
I have a model 94 that has been shot a lot over the years. I have never had a round discharge while loading it, using many types of ammunition, including Rem Corelok. I have heard the stories over the years too but have never seen it happen and don't know anyone that it has actually happened too. I feel safe when loading mine.A:
Just to be safe I would ask a trained gunsmith, or contact the manufacture. However, most likely that is a myth, two reasons I am saying this first of all the primer takes alot of force to ignite and I believe all of the core-lokts have an exposed lead tip to them, which allows for some space to be compacted taking off some of the pressure from the primer. Also I have a friend who has been hunting with them who uses a pump action 30-06 which is tube fed much like the model 94 and he has never had any problems with them in over 20 yrs.(again I would not just rely on my opinion ask a gunsmith/manufacturer)

Yes it is compatable. All ammo produced is made to SAAMI specs and standard no matter who is making the ammo or who made the gun. Every gun does have its own personality on what ammo its likes and will shoot accurately but all ammo in the chambering of your rifle (30-30) should be safe to shoot.A:
I can't say for sure. I have a 7mm-08 in both a Remington 788 and a Winchester model 70. I also noticed the difference between Winchester and Remington ammo. In my rifles. It pays to stick with the manufactors ammo. The model 70 averages 3" groups with Remington ammo. It will shoot 1 1/2 inches with Winchester ammo. No need for high dollar ammo for deer. Both rounds will kill them. Right now!1 of 1
