The Remington® R51™ Sub-Compact Semi-Auto Pistol makes a great choice for concealed carry, as it is slim, points instinctively, and strong enough to fire 9mm ammo. The R51 utilizes a unique "hesitation-locked" action with a locking breechblock originally developed by John Pedersen on the Remington Model 51 in the early 20th century. This action allows the use of higher-pressure cartridges than a straight blowback firearm, providing a solid platform for firing 9mm Luger +P ammunition in a sleek lightweight concealed carry gun. The R51 has a grip safety that blocks movement of the trigger until the safety is pressed. The shooter only has to grasp the grip firmly and press the trigger to fire the pistol, making the R51 very rapid to get into action, without having to remember any levers or buttons to push while in a stressed situation. Because of the locking breechblock design, the recoil spring is lighter in strength than most 9mm pistols, making the slide easy to manually operate to chamber a cartridge—a real plus for those who have trouble racking the slide on small semi-auto pistols. The optimized grip angle and low bore axis reduce recoil and muzzle flip for fast follow-up shots. The Remington R51 Sub-Compact Semi-Auto Pistol is constructed with an aluminum frame and stainless steel slide, both finished in matte black. The pistol comes with two 7-round, single stacked magazines that fit flush with the bottom of the grip. Made in USA.

R51 Oh No! I had high expectations for this pistol, as I own two original Remington model 51's a .380 and .32 and they are fantastic smooth action and never have issues (and these guns are 90+ years old). The new R51 I got is a wreck right out of the box. Rear sight can be pushed out with a finger. The slide and action absolutely very difficult to operate, it grinds and sticks. It fails to go completely into battery, I 'very had the slide stick in the rearward position while cycling a round and a tap would send the slide forward. I have nothing good to say about this pistol, other than I don't trust it. It has been sent back to Remington for evaluation. Just 'google' R51... I can attest that most of the issues are true. I will update this review when I get the gun back from Remington. As for now stay away from this 1st generation as it has many many issues that need to be addressed. April 15, 2014
Amazing I was skeptical about this pistol once I had it ordered because a slew of videos online said this pistol was a flop. Well after getting it home I test fired it. I fired regular rounds of 115 grain 9mm, and some +P rounds and this pistol is amazing! The recoil is practically non existent. It kicks less than a .380! I now carry this as my conceal carry weapon. I have shot it several times since first firing it, it performs without error. I have had vast experience with many different pistol platforms. This is by far the best I've had so far. July 2, 2014
Breach Block My R51 was sent back to Remington on 3/20/14, Three days after I purchased it. Only fired three (3) rounds thru it. Slide kept locking back after each shot. Got a Repair number from Remington after calling for three weeks. Then every time I called Customer Service said they had no information on my pistol. Finally I got someone to tell me it was "on the Bench" When asked what that meant he stated that it was on a Gunsmiths work bench, but he did not know how many other items were ahead of my repair. after a number of e-mails to Remington Customer Service and demanding either a repair status or a refund they informed me that there was a Breach Block Problem with the R51 and that none were being repaired or manufactured until the designers figured out the Problem. Requested a Refund, Faxed all the information required by Remington on 06/08/14.... Checked on 06/09/14 that they received same, which they confirmed. Told I would get check in about a week, Still Waiting... June 26, 2014
Worst Gun Ever This gun does not work. Think of an issue you may encounter with a handgun. This pistol does it all. FTF, FTE, stovepipe. Mag gets stuck. Slide is very difficult to rack. But do not fear. This gun is backed by Remington...what a joke! I called on April 30th for repair and return instructions. The clerk said do not send back until we send you a return package. SIX weeks later, after four phone calls, I received a white envelope to ship the gun back. Really?! Today is June 19th. They cannot tell me when or if the gun is being repaired. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PISTOL TO ANYONE!!!! June 19, 2014
