The Remington® Model 870™ Pump-Action Shotgun is one of the most proven firearm's designs in history. The 870 Special Purpose Marine Magnum™ is a rugged workhorse, specifically made to resist corrosion from both fresh and saltwater. The receiver and barrel, and all other metal parts are plated with Electroless nickel, and the black synthetic stock and fore-end are virtually indestructible, as well as impervious to water. This is a great choice for a self-defense shotgun to have on a boat or a yacht, or to carry while fishing in bear country. The 18-1/2" barrel has a fixed cylinder choke for optimum performance with buckshot and slugs at close range. The extended magazine holds 6 rounds of either 2-3/4" or 3" shells, plus one in the chamber for a total of 7 rounds. At the heart of the ultra reliable 870 Remington is a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength, and twin action bars that prevent binding and twisting while cycling the action. 870 pump shotguns have great pointing characteristics. They come to the shooter's shoulder and acquire targets instinctively. The Remington 870™ Special Purpose Marine Magnum Pump-Action Shotgun comes with sling swivel studs that provide the quick attachment and detachment of a sling (included) to free the user's hands when occupied with other tasks. A durable, rubber recoil pad dampens recoil and helps shooter to stay on target for fast follow up shots.

A Terrific Weapon Choices in an environment-proof 12 gauge pump are basically limited to the Mossberg 500 Mariner and the Remington 870 Marine. After reviewing and inspecting both guns, I chose the Remington. The fit of the stock and recoil pad as well as the the texture of the synthetic stock and forearm are, in my opinion, better on the Remington. The nickel finish on the Remington is listed by Remington as complete, covering all inside and outside metal, Mossberg does not say if that is the case with their gun. The nickel finish seems smoother as well on the Remington. The 870 in any of it's configurations is a world-class shotgun and the Marine Magnum is no exception. The Remington does cost more than the Mossberg, but in my opinion, you get more gun for your money. November 28, 2010
Remington 870 12 gague Marine Magnum An excellent choice as a home or personal defense shotgun. The electroless nickel finish resist rust an corrison very well; even in hot and humid climates. Shooting the 2-3/4 " or 3" magnum shells is simply enjoyable; when fired from a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. I highly recommend this weapon to all of my friends, and or associates. November 28, 2010
Remington Marine Magnum I shot a friends Marine Magnum and put about 100 rounds thru it. It is a very sold shooting gun. I compared this to the Mossberg 500 and found that the 830 felt much more substantial. For me the fit was perfect as I have average arm length for the pump action. It is hard to explain but the 830 just felt like it was put together much tighter and solid. September 18, 2014
Simply the Best ! Probably , one of the hardest of the Remington 870's to find, but well worth the search. I was able to get mine at the Grand Opening of the Palm Bay , Florida Bass Pro Shop . I believe as of this writing there are 2 left in stock. So if you got the desire, I would hurry over before they are gone. December 7, 2013

It has an ambidextrous stock. If you want a left hand stock it would have to be after-market. They are super easy to change.
