Built on proven 700 bolt action, the Remington Model 700 SPS .308 WIN Varmint Rifle punches tiny groups straight out of the box. Perfectly matched to high-velocity calibers, the rifle’s tough, non-reflective matte blued finish keeps the receiver and heavy-contoured barrel hidden from sharp predator eyes. The ergonomically designed black synthetic stock has a vented beavertail fore-end for enhanced grip, reduced weight and better heat dissipation. The Model 700 SPS .308 WIN Varmint Rifle also features a 4 + 1 hinged floorplate magazine, sling swivel studs, and a drilled and tapped receiver.

I really like this rifle, I put a Nikon 4/12 x 40 scope on it
@ 100yd I got a quarter size shoot group benched, I only shoot a few times a year so I am no super marksmen.
Since it is a heavy barrel and 26 in long its a bit heavy for someone with only shots under 100 yd or ppl hunting from a difficult to get into stand.
I hunt a road with a 325 yd posible range and I use a monopole.

Out of the box, at 100 yds, placed three shot group smaller than a dime. This rife will make a great shooter out of a beginner. I cannot say enough about how accurate this rife is.

It has awesome knock down power. Hit a doe at 80-90 yds in ribs lung shot exactly where I aimed she dropped kicked and moved about 2 yds. It's my most accurate and least recoil rifle I have.Answers

depends on several thingsrange your hunting
are you moving alot or stationary?
100yd or less a simple 4 fixed power is good
shots to 200yd a 3/9 x 40 is good
shots beyond 200yd 3/9 x 40 would be a min, 4/12 x 40 or better is recomended
if you move alot thru the woods, a fixed scope is best

In my opinion, one of the Bushnell Tactical Elite scopes with a fixed 10/40 power.Answers

I purchased a scope and took the rifle and scope to Bass Pro. They sold me the mounting rings, mounted the scope, and bore sited the system. This process took them about twenty minutes.Top 1000 Contributor

yeah of course you can mount a scope. if you're going for a long range gun i suggest a 20MOA scope base.(i think leupold makes a 25$ 20moa base, and if your getting a varmint contour barrel like this your kinda set up for long range so you oughta get a 20MOA base). but if not you can get a standard leupold base or a picatinny scope rail. p.s.- the 20moa base gives you 20 more minutes of angle-meaning at 100yds you'll have 20 more inches you can adjust and at 1000yds you'll have 200 more inches you can adjust the scope for..in other words, its for shooting really farDetails:
