Built on the proven Remington® Model 700™, the CDL™ Bolt-Action Rifle has all the quality features needed for serious big game hunting, predator hunting, or informal target shooting. At the heart of the CDL is the famous Model 700 action that encloses the cartridge head in 3 rings of steel: the recessed bolt face, the chamber end of the barrel, and the front receiver ring. This design provides inherent strength, while holding the cartridge in precise alignment with the bore for exceptional accuracy. The CDL comes with a traditional straight comb American walnut stock, with a right-handed cheek piece, cut checkering, and a satin finish. The elegant stock has a black fore-end tip and grip cap, a recoil pad, and sling swivel studs. The carbon steel barrel and 1-piece receiver are deeply blued. A 2-position safety at the rear of the action is quick to operate with the thumb, and can also be gripped with the forefinger and thumb and moved extra quietly to the fire position. The bolt knob has 2-panel checkering for a non-slip hold while cycling the action. An externally adjustable X-Mark Pro® trigger allows shooters to find the desired pull according to their preference. The Remington Model 700 CDL Bolt-Action Rifle has a hinged floorplate for safe and easy unloading of the magazine, and comes drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Made in USA.

Great Rifle! A great american classic rifle. It's IMO the best looking and shooting rilfe there is. I love the X-Mark trigger, it's the cleanest breaking trigger I've ever used. The first time out it shot a 1" group with Hornady SST 165 gr. The other times with different rounds I got close to the same results. I have a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40 scope with Luepold DD rings and bases. October 25, 2010
Satisfied Buyer I initially was on the fence when it came to what rifle I wanted. I knew what caliber I wanted, and I had a list of about five narrowed down. After handling all five rifles, comparing reviews, and thinking it over, the Remington 700 CDL is what I decided on. I couldn't be happier. I even found one with a unique "tiger stripe" wood pattern on the foregrip. This rifle may end up being one of my favorites. The action is solid, the barrel has one of the best reputations in the market, and the wood stock is better than some other "deluxe" models. Compare for yourself - you'll see. November 14, 2011
Great rifle Have the 30-06 in this model and i love it. Very smooth and always dead on accuracy, also its a remmington so you can't go wrong. June 1, 2011
Go-to Rifle I have the 30-06 and boy do I love it. I have meddled around with other rifles, but I always grab my 700 almost everyday. I've owned my fair share of the various 700s and I am yet to be disappointed. The 700 CDL .30-06 SPG looks amazing and shoots better. Spend the extra money for this over its less expensive, and massively inferior, competitors. No other rifle compares. This is truly my go-to rifle. February 10, 2013

A:
This rifle is engineered so closely to perfection that even the .30-06, which normally gives smaller shooters some trouble, feels extremely smooth and you hardly feel a thing. However, if you are truly worried, go to a .308, it is still an excellent round (my personal favorite) and provides less recoil than a .30-06. It is personal opinion really.

Remington's website does show the 700 CDL 30-06 as coming in a left-handed model. That is actually what I was coming on here to look for in store.

if it was brand new you might just need to break it in and it should get better, if not try taking out the bolt and lightly lubricating all moving parts with rem oil
