The RemingtonĀ® Model 1911 R1™ Semi-Auto Pistol is a single-action, recoil-operated, semi-automatic handgun based on the John M. Browning designed M1911. The Remington R1 is a blend of modern steel machined to ultra-tight tolerances, and an iconic design, proven in combat for over a century. The R1 Carry comes with many enhanced features normally only found on custom guns. The carbon steel slide and frame are de-horned to aid in drawing the pistol from a holster smoothly, and to reduce the risk of the pistol getting snagged on clothing at a inconvenient moment. A beavertail grip safety with a checkered memory bump, and a checkered front strap and mainspring housing provide a solid hold, and enhance accuracy when the hand remembers where the perfect grip is for consistent shooting. The memory bump also aids in activating the grip safety for the shooter with thin hands. Handsome, checkered cocobolo grip panels compliment the shooter's secure hold. The slide and frame are finished with a durable satin black oxide coating. A Novak LoMount™ plain black rear sight and a tritium night sight in the front are quick to pick-up in any lighting. To maximize accuracy potential the Remington R1 Carry comes with a machined skeletonized aluminum match trigger, fitted with an over travel screw, and a stainless steel barrel with a target crown. The skeletonized combat hammer fits snuggly into the beavertail safety for carrying the pistol cocked and locked. A lowered and flared ejection port enhances reliable ejection of spent cases, and an extended, ambidextrous thumb safety is easy to reach for all shooters. The Remington Model 1911 R1 Carry Semi-Auto Pistol comes with one 7-round, flat base magazine, and an additional 8-round mag with an extended bumper pad base plate. Made in USA.

Remington Remasters After more than 20 years in the U.S. Army and going on 7 years in civilian law enforcement, it is safe to say, I have fired many different handguns. Large frame, compacts, semi-autos, revolvers, all of many calibers. The history of the 1911 model .45 caliber semi-autos is that of legend. For more than 100 years they have been around, and for a reason, they are reliable, sturdy and accurate. Remington Arms, one of the oldest and best known of American firearms manufactures finally struck gold with the Remington 1911 R1 Carry. This pistol is a masterfully re-mastered version of John Browning's original design. Out of the box, this pistol looks great, feels great and shoots with an accuracy not often equaled by other off the shelf non-custom handguns. The ambidextrous safety is fabulous for a lefty like me. A fantastic all around good daily carry firearm that will work and be accurate when needed most. If that's what you are in the market for then look no further then the Remington 1911 R1 Carry. Great Choice I have been thinking about picking up a 45 for the past several years. I have not even used one in over 45 years when it was issued to by the military. Did my home work and read multiple reviews on several manufactures and then made the store trips to look and feel the guns. After selected the Remington Carry R1. Best choice I could have made for he money the gun functions fine, good quality, and shoots better than I did with the military issue 45. Shoot a friends high priced 45 and this gun shoots every bit as well as the high priced guns. Took it to the range and put about 100 rounds through it to see how well it shoots and it blew the center out of a six inch circle target at 21 yards without any problem. This is well within a competitive guns specs that cost in excess of $2000. I was impressed with the gun the recoil was less than I expected but should have know that the steel built frame was better than the poly framed guns. Very Impressed at how it handled and functioned After years as a LEO I and carrying a solid steel frame pistol I will no longer buy a poly frame gun again. Just wish Remington would have a 9MM in the same style. It would be a winner. I would be first in line to buy it. Over all well impressed and as a Firearms Instructor will put on top of my recommendation list of a fair priced pistol of very good quality. Well worth the investment and I am glad I went back to the Remington 45 vs a poly framed 40 S&W by Glock. April 19, 2014
