Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very solid barrel Great deal on a Remington barrel ,I wish I would have bought it ten years ago ... Swapping between my 28 and this 18.5 depending on what I'm hunting . But it's heavier than I expected , the base is a little thicker than standard barrel so my aftermarket forearm was jamming against it , but was an easy fix with some sanding on the plastic forearm . Only four stars because its not as weatherproof as my " gloss finished " barrel . December 6, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid barrel - a little expensive Barrel came in quickly and was easy to install. Sights are adequate for 75 yards or so. Hard to pinpoint true accuracy with open sights but have a couple of sub 2" groups at 50 yards. When fitted to a youth stocked 870 the gun becomes very handy and light. Going to get the receiver drilled and tapped so I can mount a 4x shotgun scope. Overall a good way to turn a bird gun into a solid deer gun. November 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wouldn`t hunt without it I have been hunting deer in the shotgun hunt for years but have up until this year used a smooth bore with buckshot. I purchased the 870 rifled slug barrel with scope combo this fall and loved it. Not only did it increase my range by about 5 times of what I had, it gave me and increased confidence of my abilities in the field when making shots. I wouldn`t hunt deer during shotgun season without this barrel and sabot slugs. The only problem I had was the scopes fasteners have to be really tightened as one nut on my scope fell off and needs to be replaced. I guess i should have really cranked on it to make sure it was tighter. Other then that, great purchase and VERY easy to install and sight in. Harvested a nice buck this fall. November 10, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by 3 guns in 1 I have the Remington 870 and have bought two barrels for it. The first was the Deer barrel with the Cantalevered Scope Mount w/ scope and the other a Turkey barrel with the Remington turkey choke and rifle sights. Now I have three shotguns in one by just swapping out the barrels. All work flawlessly. I would recommend both of them. April 12, 2009

I've been shooting a Remington 870 with the Remington Barrel with the Cantelevered Scope mount for years. I also use the Remington AcuTip Sabot Slugs and I get get consistant groups a 100 yards. This combo is deadly accurate every year for me come deer season.

can't say which is the best, but I can say this: My brother has 2 Remington 870 Express shotguns, 12 & 20 ga. Both have Remington fully rifled Cantelever (for scopes) barrels. Both sighted in last year at 100 yds with the Hornady SST Slug 2 3/4". In test firing both guns for this 2012 hunting season to see if they were still on at 100 yds, they both hit the same hole. He put a pcs of tape behind the 1st shot, 1st hole Bulls Eye just in case. Good thing he did. Sounds good enough for me. That's what I'm building right now and what I'm going to shoot.

A:
Yes, but not a rifled slug. Choose a good sabot and enjoy. Longer barrels = greater accuracy at longer ranges

Yes it will; just make sure you match up with what size your reciever can handle. For example if you have a 3.5" reciever, and you get a 3" barrel, make sure you only shoot 3" shells with that barrel. I hope that makes sense.

replacement of slug barrel

Details:
Look y'all, don't judge please. I purchased an 870 Express 2 3/4" combo back in 1987 thinking I'd be using it every year. It came with a smoth bore slug barrel that I let a buddy borrow and never got back. The military took me all over the world and I have only recently found someplace to hunt. I am looking to replace this barrel and still be able to use all of the "basic" slugs that I have purchased. If I get a replacement barrel in 3", can/will it work with my 2 3/4" receiver and slugs? Secondary question; If I get a fully rifled barrel, will my basic slugs perform with it? someone please help! I want to go hunting!!!

Yes, I've had that combo for year for deer hunting. The main thing is you want the reciever to be able to handle the size shell you are shooting.

A:
yes it will but I would use 2 3/4" slugs like Brenneke KO for 100 yds and shorter and Horady SST 150 yds and shorter. You will group better with them than any 3" shell

I was wondering what type of sight is on the barrel item # 38-890-608-06. The description says D, EX, and I know the barrel is fully rifled, but it doesn't specify whether or not it is rifle sighted. Is this barrel rifle sighted? If not, what is it?
