An excellent choice as a home or personal defense
shotgun. The electroless nickel finish resist rust an
corrison very well; even in hot and humid climates.
Shooting the 2-3/4 " or 3" magnum shells is simply
enjoyable; when fired from a Remington 870 Marine
Magnum. I highly recommend this weapon to all of
my friends, and or associates.

Choices in an environment-proof 12 gauge pump are basically limited to the Mossberg 500 Mariner and the Remington 870 Marine. After reviewing and inspecting both guns, I chose the Remington. The fit of the stock and recoil pad as well as the the texture of the synthetic stock and forearm are, in my opinion, better on the Remington. The nickel finish on the Remington is listed by Remington as complete, covering all inside and outside metal, Mossberg does not say if that is the case with their gun. The nickel finish seems smoother as well on the Remington. The 870 in any of it's configurations is a world-class shotgun and the Marine Magnum is no exception. The Remington does cost more than the Mossberg, but in my opinion, you get more gun for your money.

It has an ambidextrous stock. If you want a left hand stock it would have to be after-market. They are super easy to change.1 of 1
