The Remington® Model 870™ Pump-Action Shotgun is one of the most proven firearm's designs in history. The 870 Express® is a rugged, value-priced workhorse, making it one of the most useful tools that an outdoorsman can own. The versatile, no-nonsense 870 Express can be used for hunting waterfowl, upland game, and deer, as well as a home defense shotgun, and informal clay pigeon shooting. At the heart of the ultra reliable 870 Remington is a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength, and twin action bars that prevent binding and twisting while cycling the action. 870 pump shotguns have great pointing characteristics. They come to the shooter's shoulder and acquire targets instinctively, and swing fluidly on fast flying birds. The Remington Model 870 Express Pump-Action Shotgun - Synthetic comes with virtually indestructible black synthetic stock and fore-end that are impervious to water, and a matte blue/black, bead-blasted finish on the receiver and barrel. The barrel has a vent rib and a bead sight, and uses standard Rem™ Choke screw-in choke tubes (comes with 1 modified tube). A durable, rubber recoil pad dampens recoil and helps shooter to stay on target for faster follow up shots. All 870 Express shotguns function with either 2-3/4" or 3" shotgun shells interchangeably. A myriad of aftermarket Remington 870 accessories enables owners to customize the 870 Express for specific purposes.

Great Gun First day out i put 225 rounds through this gun, and i only had one problem.... i ran out of rounds! This shotgun is easy to swing and manipulate, so much so i could handthrow my own clays and knock them down with ease. The action is smooth and the rounds just fly out of this gun without hesitation. Your only problems will rest squarely on how fast you can pump. I LOVE IT! June 4, 2011
best gun ever i bought this gun three years ago went out to shoot it for the first time and fell in love with it. its light weight and very easy to shoot. my buddys are always asking to borrow it. it's very affordable. i dont baby my gun either and its held up through some tough hunts. Great shotgun I received this shotgun as a Christmas present. My first day out with it i didn't miss one clay pigeon. The gun just fits your body right. The mobility of this gun is great, due to its extreme light weight. It is a great shotgun November 25, 2013
Good Name Gone Bad I bought this gun in 28" barrel for field use as my first shotgun. I did all the research I could and deliberated for a month between comparable products before purchasing the 870. I fired it 50 times and the ejector mechanism failed consistently allowing spent cartridges to jam as they exited the chamber. I used four different types of target loads and there was no difference. They all hung up. Fix one the gun was sent to Remington and after 2 weeks came back with areas of the barrel filed down. I fired it again only 20 times as the problem persisted. Fix two the gun goes back to Remington and a new barrel and extractor mech were installed. I fired the gun another 50 times and experienced the same problem three times. Fix four...I sold this lemon to the local pawn shop since it was out of warranty and could not be repaired for free again. I have found this out. If they are great out of the box then they are a nice field gun. If they are not spot-on immediately then expect recurring problems. I have searched many online forums and talked to several shotgun enthusiasts and this seems to be a problem that is increasingly common. It seems that the older 870 models are immune and the QC issues started when the company was taken over. 2 stars because everything else on the gun was excellent, however if the gun isn't reliable what sense is there in having it? The key to checking if you can shoot a slug through a shot gun barrel is to check if a dime can fit in the end of the barrel. If you cannot fit a dime in the end of the barrel, do not shoot a slug through it, it will ruin your gun. hope this helps

Yes, but the slug is less accurate. If your deer hunting, then you can use buckshot instead.

I had a Remington 870 12 gauge supermag in full camo and I wouldnt recommend it. the fun jammed on me after the first 15 rounds that went through it. I have a relitive that also bought one and he had the same one. Go with the Benelli Nova or for a little extra cash get the Supernova

You can shoot any shot, slug and buckshot
Out of it as long it is a 12 gauge. ( slugs are less accurate unless you get a fully rifled barrel for them.)
