Remington® 870 Express Synthetic 12 Gauge Shotgun
Returned next day
After reading reviews I followed advise and stripped and cleaned this gun prior to use. Just as I read the gun jammed on the very first shot, I had to disassemble to remove spent shell, tried again with different shells to no avail, gun would fire 2-3 shots max then jam up hard. Took back and bought a Winchester sxp, life is good again. The gun might have been good if taken to a smith to work the bugs out but who really needs the hassle?
Not worth the chance to me on getting a "good one".
Cycle button is in awkward position as well, not as user friendly as the Winny and only comes with one mod choke. My advise.. Buy something else.

The 870 has had some bad press as of late due to shells sticking in the chambers of these guns. Before I even fired a single round, I took a section of cleaning rod and a bronze brush wrapped in 00 steel wool soaked in wd40 and chucked it into a drill and polished the chamber for about 2-3 minutes on high. I did this to both mine and my wifes shotguns that we bought the same day at Basspro Memphis. Neither me or my wife have had any problems in the least out of these guns, and we have about 450 rounds through each gun. Don't let the bad press keep you from enjoying one of the best guns made. Easy to shoot, solid made piece of american workmanship. I love this gun!!

The gun works great if you buy higher quality shells. If you buy cheep shells the gun jams all the time and isn't a lot of fun. I bought the gun and returned it and recieved a new barrel and still have the same problem with the new barrel. A great gun if you never use cheep amunition. If you want a gun that fires anything i wouldn't recommend the 870 express. (Winchester AA seem to work well)

Best Basic 12 Gauge
I shopped around for over a month deciding which shotgun would suit my needs and be within a tight budget. The 870 Express was it. Easy to take down, clean, and put back together - this gun is made to last. I have used it in rain, snow, sleet, and sun without one problem. I buy the cheapest shells available for target shooting and have shot more than 7 different brands out of the barrel without one issue. Note: The factory grease coat on a new one is thick - make sure to give this gun a good cleaning before first use.
