Rated 5 out of 5Â by gunman88 great first gun
bought this as my first gun. i wanted something to shoot trap/skeet with and didn't want to spend too much. remington 870 is one of the most popular guns and most reliable so i thought i'd give it a go. i've shot hundreds of rounds through it and not a single problem. easy to clean and simple. a great gun for trap. i haven't shot anyshotgun before this purchase so i didn't know too much about recoil. recoil wasn't bad being a younger guy. took some friends shooting and they got a bit bruised up after 50 something rounds but i've shot over a hundred in a day and nothing. just depends on the person i guess. overall great gun and i'd recommend it

Picked this up a few weeks ago and I am happy. Works great no problems at all. Have run a few hundred shells through it. Only thing is that the recoil pad is real hard so I swapped it out. Other than that it is one great shotgun.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by QuackQuack not true checkering
The Remington 870 is a great gun. I just picked up one a few weeks ago. Overall its a fantastic gun only reason I gave it a 4 star rating and not a 5 star is that the checkering is not even true checkering. Its a stamped checker pattern with very little grip. Other than that the shotgun is awesome. Havent had any trouble with it so far.

I purchased one in Jan 2013n and was given a $30.00 rebate cupon to send to remington. 2 months later I ger a letter from remington that they are no longer giving a repate on the 870 express. I have been looking at a remingtom 1911 r 1 .45 cal and was going to purchase one but will now buy now from a honest company not remington.

the longer the barrel the more accurate. even a barrel that is only two inches longer will be more accurateA:Â
Because there are less review for the 26'' barrel or that people think it should be more then what it is. They are the same thing.Top 1000 Contributor
A:Â
that extra 2 inches improves overall accuracy, it holds the shot/wad longer, and reduces felt recoil without sacrificing power on impact.Answers

A:Â
Pattern your gun with the shells you plan to use, it all depends on the size shot, lenght of the shell, and ammo brand.A:Â
No you do not have to change chokes, but if you are going to shoot steel shot out of a choke, you might want to get a choke made for steel shot. Over time, steel shot will destroy the choke tube.Top 500 Contributor

Yes and no. Slugs you can't use a tight constriction. Turkey shot you need a tight constriction. Anything in between just try out different chokes with different shot to see what your gun patters the best with.2 years, 5 months ago

you can shoot slugs from a bird barrel but i dont reccommend it, it can ruin your barrel and is not very accurate.they sell slug barrels that are rifled that you can just slide on.Top 10 Contributor
