The Remington® Model 870™ Pump-Action Shotgun is one of the most proven firearm's designs in history. The 870 Express® is a rugged, value-priced workhorse, making it one of the most useful tools that an outdoorsman can own. The versatility of the 870 Express is increased with the Combo model that comes with a vent-ribbed barrel with a bead sight that uses standard Rem™ Choke screw-in choke tubes (comes with 1 modified tube), and a 20'' fully rifled barrel with rifle sights. Having 2 barrels, the 870 Combo can be used for virtually any shooting situation, including hunting waterfowl, upland game, turkey, and deer, as well as a home defense shotgun, and informal clay pigeon shooting. At the heart of the ultra reliable 870 Remington is a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength, and twin action bars that prevent binding and twisting while cycling the action. 870 pump shotguns have great pointing characteristics. They come to the shooter's shoulder and acquire targets instinctively, and swing fluidly on fast flying birds. The Remington Model 870 Express Combo Pump-Action Shotgun comes with a durable hardwood stock and fore-end, and a matte blue/black, bead-blasted finish on the receiver and barrels. A durable, rubber recoil pad dampens recoil and helps shooter to stay on target for faster follow up shots. All 870 Express shotguns function with either 2-3/4" or 3" shotgun shells interchangeably. A myriad of aftermarket Remington 870 accessories enables owners to customize the 870 Express for specific purposes.

Excellent gun Another 5 star. I've used everything from #1buck to #8 and 3" slug and have yet to have an issue. I did buy my slug barrel separately so it was a little cheaper. Don't let one bad review spoil your purchase. Just wait until Aug during the gun sale and get a discount! March 5, 2011
870 Express Pay no attention to the other review. This is a fine gun for hunting and protection. I have had my 870 express for years and it is as good now as the day I got it. I have used for bird hunting, shooting clays, and have fired 2 3/4 slugs and 3 inch slugs using the slug barrel and it is dead on. Never had any issues with ejecting spent shells. Perhaps the guy needs to lift some weights so he can actually pull the pump back after firing. December 17, 2010
870 always loved 870's till i bought this one! with the vr barrel it will not eject spent shells. with five shells your lucky for it to kick out 2. my dad has an older 870exp thats fine my grandpa has a 1960's wingmaster that is bullet proof but mune is JUNK October 30, 2010

A:
No, the Remington 870 12 ga. combo is mos likely the better bet. And in the long run the pump on the Remington will not move back and forth with how a mossberg will. It's not going to make a difference on how long the barrel is for when you are deer hunting with sabots.

A:
No, the 870 is a far superior gun. Instead of investing the $300 + bucks in a extra barrell I would buy better optics to mount on my 870!
