This shot gun is probably the best all-round big-game/small-game shotgun ever created. My grandfather used Remington arms as did my father. The history of the name Remington had me ever since I was an 8 year old. I would go to the school library and read about the old west and it's boundless history which is rich in Remington lore. I bought my first 870 pump in 1976 and never had one issue with it. In 1999 I bought my first new 870 Express magnum for deer and loved it from the first. It shot straight with the rifle sights, broke down for cleaning quickly, and re-assembled just as fast.
I called it " Sadie " for some reason and cleaned it for kicks even when hunting season was over. It was my pride and joy.
My love for that gun was forever destroyed when my 40 year old daughter sold my " Sadie " for drug money. I don't own any guns now because that gun felt like " the one ". If you know what I mean?
I urge any hunter, with or without kids or grandkids to at least try one of these shotguns and experience the fit and feel of a fine hunting implement with a low purchase price. You can't go wrong.

I recently bought this 12 gauge Remington 870 combo and was very surprised. Straight out of the box, it hit almost every single clay target. It functioned perfectly with no problem. I changed from the vent ribbed barrel to the fully rifled barrel. At 50 yds I was shooting 2" groups with the factory iron sights.
P.S. the Remington coppersolid sabot shotgun slugs work the best in this guns rifled barrel

Purchased this gun as my first ever shotgun. used it for deer and bear this year along with, birds and rabbit. I have shot slugs through the slug barrel and it works flawlessly shot 3 inch and 2 3/4 inch 1oz and 7/8 oz slugs. The slug barrel on the gun is heavy though but being fully rifled makes that barrel an ace. My biggest issue is that i wish i had got the slug barrel with the cantilever scope mount but honestly a slug is not made for 300 yard shots with the rifled barrel i would give 100 yards- 150 yards at the very uttermost. For the field barrel i've shot #8 bird, for birds and clays works amazingly even with the short brass. used 00 buck and #4 buck works like a charm fun too shot. some people complain about ejection issues even with the short brass I have never experienced any issues. One thing i urge you to purchase the synthetic stock combo (if they sell them) the stock i got with mine was undesirable to me hunted in the rain and the stock started getting bubbles in it, fixed that by replacing the hardwood stock with a black synthetic stock like that synthetic even more than i did the wood. I still gave this combo a 5 star rating because honestly this gun is awesome shoots soaked, shoots cold its unstopable and works like a charm i love mine im sure you will love yours.
