I was extremely surprised with this gun. I bought this rifle November 2012. The price threw up the "Quality Flag," but I have been more than pleased with this rifle. It was hitting paper out of the box and within 1 box of rounds, was hitting center mass with a 3 round group within 1.5 inches @ 100 yds. Within less than another box my 11 year old was grouping 3 inches @ 100yds. He killed his first deer @ 117 yards the following day. The bolt is a bit rough, but a shooter taking his or her time will be fine. I buy weapons based on practicallity and purpose. I dont need anything fancy. In a survival situation, this rifle fits the need and one would be well served to place this piece in his or her collection. I thought I was taking a gamble on this one, but so far have yet to be disappointed. Many people have had negative comments about the barrel not being replaceable, but these barrels are of the highest quality...if you wear one out (10,000 rounds), you are doing a considerable amount of shooting and bought the wrong rifle in the first place.
Very suprised! Very Pleased! I am considering buying this same rifle in .308 to round out my arsenal.

I purchased the white tail riffle on a Friday night and took it home and found that the scope lenses have fallen out. Very mad as I drove 4 hours one way to bass pro.
I took the gun back and talked with a gentleman who said this gun is a cheap gun period. He would rather see someone save up a hundred more dollars and buy the savage 111 trophy hunter and get a Nikon scope instead of a poor quality bushnel scope.
The action slides so much more easy and over all lighter gun. And for a $100 more you get a $150 Nikon scope.
DON'T BUY THIS GUN, WILL REGRET IT, spend. Little more and have a better gun.

270 cal. or higher loaded with 150 gr. SP. I like most calibers for different reasons but if you are looking for an all around caliber I personally would go with a .270. It has less kick and has enough power to take care of ground hogs to elk.
It depends on what you want to shoot. If you're hunting deer, the most commonly used bullet is the soft-core 130 grain. The 150 grain is used more for elk because of the weight of the bullet. I do NOT recommend using a hollow point, simply because the soft-core bullets provide a good "mushroom" before it hits the target
most of these rifles like Remington Core-Lok 130 grn. if you are looking to buy factory ammo. this ammo is available almost anywhere and does a really good job on big game. dont be suprised by them being cheaper than other ammo because they will give you good results. the rest is up to your ability.
