Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Remington .22 cal Thunderbolt It's good ammo but you want to be careful how you store it for a long time. I have several bricks that I bought about 8-9 years ago that have corrosion on the lead bullet. They won't feed in my Mark II or my 1022. I found a fix. Empty about 5 boxes into a plastic bag and then soak them in WD-40 for several days. Dry them on a paper towel and they work just fine, no FTF' s or ejection problems. It worked for me and I was able to save throwing out almost 10 bricks. This is darn good plunking ammo, a little dirty but still worth the money even at today's prices. February 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by No Problems - Ever I have run bricks and bricks of this ammo through 5 pistols and three rifles with absolutely no problems. I have probably had 2 out of 1,000 FTF's, and no feed or eject issues. Yes, it will leave powder residue in a short barrel but no leading. I have been shooting this ammo since it was $6.95/500rd brick. Can't tell you the exact date but it was a long time ago. I have and continue to recommend it to friends (at least those that clean their guns regularily) and they go back for more. December 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad Ammo This ammo is NOT recommended for pistols, and for that model many other types of .22's. Long story short, I needed to send my pistol back to Ruger as I could not clean the lead out of the barrel after shooting 30 rounds of this stuff. At first I thought the pistol was the problem, but as soon as I took it to the gun shop the first question that they asked was "please tell me you didn't use Thunderbolt ammo in your gun...?" I am not the only one, run a YouTube search or Google search and you will see a very detailed explanation of the problem. It is known problem, don't mess with this ammo. December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I've used thousands of these in 3 different Rugers without issue. I keep my guns clean and have not had any kind of problems with this product and plan to stick with them. Hollow points always jammed the feed ramp and these do not. November 5, 2013

A:
I don't know if it is quieter.
I have a licensed silencer fitted to a Ruger 10/22.
The Ruger functions flawlessly.
I suspect that this ammo will be much quieter in any gun.

Remington Yellow Jackets are a perfect squirrel shell. The hollow point expands well if you make a head shot or hit a bone. They also work well on rabbits. I have not had a squirrel or rabbit get away with this shell.

Yeah, get indoor target ammo (CB Caps) Nice and quiet but still effective at short ranges. I have a pellet gun that makes more noise.

A:
The Thunderbolts are as loud as any other standard or high-velocity .22LR. If your neighbors are close enough to be scared by a .22LR rd you should consider a Calibri or CCI -Quiet. Low velocity but no more noise than a fairly strong air rifle. Also, do not shoot the "POOF" rounds in a semi-auto anything. They won't cycle the action.

Use .22 shorts, as they are sub sonic and make quite a bit less noise.(if your gun handles them)

if you're worried about the neighbors hearing the sound then they are too close to safely discharge a firearm in my opinion.

the 22 is recommended for small animals, squirels, rabbits, crows, snakes, etc...

they are still leathal for larger animals but do not have the impact for a quick and human kill.

This round can kill small game, varmints, and that raccoon eating you dog's food on the porch. It will also take a small hog if you shoot him though the ear. The .22lr has killed it share of furs and can still be found in the hands of a trapper.

A .22 can also kill a deer if it is shot in the head. The problem is that a .22 will result in far more injuries and slow deaths that it will in kills. Never use a .22 to hunt deer. It is unethical, immoral and very illegal.
