The Remington® 11-87™ Semi-Auto Shotgun uses a self compensating gas system, which allows the gun to operate with every type of shotgun shell from light 2-3/4" loads up to 3" Magnums without any shooter adjustments. The versatility of the no-nonsense 11-87 Sportsman makes it equally well suited for goose and duck hunting in marshlands, turkey and deer hunting in woodlands, a home defense shotgun, and informal clay pigeon shooting. At the heart of the reliable 11-87 Remington semi-automatic shotgun is a receiver constructed of solid steel, and self-cleaning gas operation system that reduces recoil considerably, allowing the shooter to follow-up on missed birds or shoot multiple targets quickly. The 11-87 Sportsman has a weather resistant, black synthetic stock with textured panels on the fore-end and pistol grip that provide a solid hold in any environment. The barrel and receiver are finished in a non-reflective matte black that enhances concealment in most hunting environments. A molded in sling swivel stud on the butt-stock and a stud on the magazine cap allow the quick attachment of a sling. The Remington 11-87 Sportsman Semi-Auto Shotgun accepts standard RemChoke® choke tubes (comes with 1 modified tube).

great gun Ive had the 1187 for three years now and I love it. Takes a little while to break in but after a few hundred shells it cycles flawlessly. Great gun for the $. I know one day when I'm dead and gone my son will be dropping ducks with it. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. October 23, 2014
Great all around gun First I would like to say this gun is amazing. It cycles everything from 2 3/4 to 3 inch shells. It shoots a great pattern also. I ise this gun for hunting everying from birds to deer to coyotes. Though there are a lot of reviews saying that it doesn't cycle shells and stuff ot is probably because they did not take the time to read the manual which states that it cannot cycle shells lighter than 1 1/8 ounces. That is actually really good considering most benellis can't even cycle that light of shells. Also people say that the gun is very heavy, which in fact it is but it is better because it gives you a nice steady hold and reduces recoil. Which brings me to felt recoil, this gun reduces recoil to that of a 20 ga. The gas system that they put in is better in my mind than the Benelli inertia systems. I hope this helps. December 28, 2014
Remington 11-87 Not even a good single shot! Jams up when loading and very heavy. You would stand a better chance of getting the birds if you used this frustrating piece of junk for a club. Remington pump I tried worked way better and got the birds. Buy something else with your hard earned money instead of the 11-87. I gave it one star cause you could always throw it. November 4, 2013
Very poor quality I bought this gun because I have always trusted Remington and the gun was on sale. I got a great price but I guess you get what you pay for, sometimes... About one out of five shots jam. Called Remington, they said use only Remington ammo. With Remington ammo I get about six shots before it jams. Sent it back to the factory, they said it works as designed. I am an experienced shooter and have cleaned and oiled the gun many times, same results. The inner workings of the gun look like they were made from crushed up beers cans and a rusty hammer, very poor design and workmanship. Most of my buddies shoot Beretta, I wish I had spent the extra money and bought a better quality gun. I would not recommend this gun and I will probably never buy another Remington. March 3, 2013
