Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Ok for Golf I primarily bought this for golf, but will use it for hunting season also. I am about a 10 handicap. I have only used it from about 200 yds and closer. For the most part it does a good job. When the green is flat in front of you, it's easier to pin a tree that is even with the flag. None of the "golf" range finders were within my price range and I have never used one so I can't compare. This is a good little piece of equipment for a cheaper price. It's a little hard to justify the price just for golf but using it for hunting season will make up for it. August 3, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Satsfied! The Redfield Raider 550 is as described in the reviews I read prior to purchasing. Reliable, easy to use/read, great product for the price. Only negative is that read-outs are hard to see in low light conditions - but I knew that going in. May 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by GOOD RANGEFINDER THE RANGEFINDER WORKS GREAT JUST AS ADVERTISED. YOU CAN RANGE MULTIPLE SPOTS OR ANIMALS ON THE MOVE WITHOUT TAKING SEVERAL RANGES, JUST KEEP THE BUTTON DOWN AND CONTINUE TO RANGE. THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS THE RANGEFINDER IS NOT FLAT ON BOTH SIDES FOR SECURING A RANGE TETHER. I AM RIGHT HANDED, AND GUESS WHAT? THE PART OF THE RANGE FINDER THAT STICKS OUT IS IN MY WAY. Rated 5 out of 5 by redfield products I just recieved my Redfield range finder and was very satisfied with it's performance.I chose Redfield because I have a Redfield rifle scope as well as a spotting scope. Each product works perfectly and is very durable , their quality is first rate. I recommend Redfield to anyone who like me can't spend more on my scope than I did on my rifle. April 17, 2012

Will it range through mesh?

Details:
I hunt a lot from pop up or tent blinds with the shoot through mesh. I know some rangefinders will not range effectively through this type of material, does anyone know if the Redfield will "shoot" through mesh??

Yes it is hard to see you have to strain your eyes alittle to see it

A:
The read out has a large number display. Tried this unit out in low light (dusk) and was able to see the numbers. I also tried it on a full moon night and as long as you have a light colored back ground to contrast with the black number display ( I used a white door) it can be read even at night with a full moon.

A:
I find this unit to be +/- 1 yard accurate. I started by measuring out a 150 yard distance at 50 yard increments with a rolling measuring tape. Then compared the two and the range finder was exactly on approximately 85% of the time. Otherwise is was +/- 1 yard. It will be accurate out to 550 on a very reflective target like a tin barn. I actually got mine to read 575 on a tin barn.

I don't know about 550 yds. but I spotted a deer at 450 yds the other day. If waterproof, I'd say yes.

it is waterproof but not accurate out to 550 yds, you have to have a large reflective object to read out to that distance. As with all range finders
