Gotta have 'em. A top notch base layer. Keeps feet dry which in turn keeps them warm..I even wear them by themselves on the golf course.

My wife and I purchased three pairs a piece last year to take on a hunting trip to Wyoming. Needless to say the temperatures dropped to at times -3 below. We coupled these liners with Redhead Wool socks and she agreed with me that our feet did not get cold on the entire hunt. When returning to Georgia for the remaining season the temperatures did not hit those extremes but certainly was cold enough to layer with these liners. We will not hunt cold weather without them!

This depends on size you buy as well as how long/short your legs are obviously but I can tell you this:I am in between two sizes, med and large. The mediums which are more snug when I first put them on but after a few hours feel perfect, come to a little over mid-calf. About like your basic sports crew sock.
The larges though which feel better when and more roomy when I first put them on but stretch after an hour or so to be a bit too big come a little higher (only half an inch or slightly more) but still couldn't be considered "over-the-calf" socks.
