Rated 5 out of 5 by aamjones Good jacket for the price!
I purchased this jacket on a recent vacation to Gatlinburg (Sevierville, TN store). I had been planning to purchase the jacket before the trip but wanted to try it on for size, instead of buying on line. The jacket runs a little big, I am 6’, 215lbs and a large was plenty big. As far as water proof, it rained Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of my trip (over 6” total). I left my rain jacket at home so I got to break it in immediately; well I stayed “Bone-dry” the entire time. The fabric does not make much noise, so that should be good in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrisInthemAc Excellent product
I'm 6'3" 335 and the 3 xlt leaves enough room for a heavy carhart hoodie underneath, definately waterproof as advertised

a little big,but nice so you can put extra layers on when it gets cold.Just perfect!! an most important (waterproof)A:
They def run big. I have an extra-large set, and they are massive. But, some extra room is OK, since I use the set as the main outer layer, and then layer with thermals, hoodie, or even a full size down parka.A:
This jacket is uninsulated and perfect for my 6"5" XLT frame. Arms are sufficient, no bind when I draw my bow, nice and quiet as well.Answers

good in heavy rain, the only place I got damp was at my wrist.when I put jacket on I grabed my shirt cuff an it was out 1/2"an it wicked water for about 3"...My fault!!!!A:
Never it will block the rain for years. I have owned mine for 3 years and still blocks the rain and wind. I love mine so much that I bought the same suit for my children to go hunting with me.A:
Never. This stuff is like Gore-Tex. It is def water-proof, with a nice soft mesh nylon liner.Q:

are these jackets and bibs really 100% waterpoof like being out in heavy down pore or good for only light rain
Answers
A:
I was caught out in a very heavy rain due to the fact that I did not check the weather before going out and I never got wet at all and my best friend had his rain suit on and I supposedly was made from the same material but his soaked through badly. Quality and the right stitching counts.A:
The jacket has yet to leak one drop, 7 days in the Oregon rain forest so far. 3rd day we had a toad strangler & I had to sit in my stand in a puddle of water and the left cheek of the bibs did wet through after a couple hours. This still kept me dryer than any previous rain suit I have owned.A:
Heavy rain and you will stay bone dry.Answers

Yes I can roll them up tight and place them in the middle compartment of my 3 zipper back pack.A:
Yes, this is very packableA:
I do not believe this jacket is truly packable. It is of quality construction and is a little thick. It would fit in a backpack along with some other gear, but not in a pocket.A:
No this jacket is not considered packable.Answers

What was redesigned about the new Squaltex? Did they use Velcro on the pockets again? (that was my only issue before)Answers
A:
Don't know, this is my first bone dry purchase. The pockets do use velcro.Top 250 Contributor
A:
Yes, there is velcro on the pockets. As far as redesign I don't know.A:
First time I looked at them so I cannot say what was redesigned. They did use Velcro on the pocket flap. I really do not think that in it self would prevent me from this purchase. I mean I want to stay out longer to hunt in the rain and I do not have to use the pockets if I want to be silent.1 of 1
