RedHead Safety Vest for Dogs
not durable enough for hunting dogs
I bought one of these vests a couple years ago for my 60-lb mixed breed, so when we got an english pointer, I decided to purchase another for him. I ordered a smaller size this time, since he's long & thin, and now the hem is coming off and the nylon is ripping, since he runs off-trail in the woods and must be getting caught on branches. Then, the velcro strap on the first vest broke off shortly after the second vest arrived, so my mixed breed dog is now back to wearing his orange fleece jacket from a pet store which I've had for 4 years now! I think this RedHead vest is fine for dogs that don't stray from the trail and are pretty mellow, but not heavy-duty enough for hunting dogs

vest needs an upgrade
The problem we had with the vests is that the elastic band came off both vests. The elastic band should be wider and sewed on better.
We hunt grouse in heavy cover and the elastic bands don't stand up to this kind of hunting. If you could have this problem corrected it would be a very good product

Is there any better?
After Dudley headed into a thicket and came out with half the thicket caught in this vest, I took it off him. Dudley would come out of wooded areas with tree limbs caught in this rig also.

The dog wore his vest 2010 Missouri firearm deer season. No one shot the dog. Buy a size larger than you would normally - just like lesser priced clothes
