Rated 4 out of 5 by What's all the fuss! This item is a little on the high maintenance side, I have three gun safe's, and I have safe dri in all three. It takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hour's for safe dry to turn back from pink to blue. I have three in each safe and it last three month's, keeping the humidity level at a steady 44%, , and these are all 48 gun safe's. I have a hygrometer in each safe, so I know what the level's are at all time's. This take's about 6 to 7 hour's to do 9 canister's. so again, High Maintenance. I live in Houston Texas so I know a thing or two about humidity. And one thing I do know it beat's having electricity in your gun safe, of any kind. This product is all relevant to how well your safe is sealed! That said, I would still recommend this product. December 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not last between charges I purchased this product that claims 60 cubic feet. My safe is way less than 60 cubic feet so I thought this would be overkill and last me months. I bought this on August 2nd, and by the 19th the indicator beads are not almost completely pink. It is time to recharge in the next few days. I live in Phoenix, AZ area we are known for a dry heat. This is our monsoon season, but my house AC is always on and I don't let it get hot in my house. For those that don't know AC actually pulls moisture out as well. I was trying to save on AC by not buying the dehumidifier rod. I will now end up buying the electric dehumidifier as I do have an outlet in my safe. I will keep this as I didn't think to save the receipt for some a small buy. It will be my backup and will use in the small bedside safe. I would not recommend. August 19, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by not great for a full-size safe I have a hygrometer in both my safe and ammunition cabinet. The whole point of moisture control is to get rid of humidity. When I used Damp-Rid in my safe, I'd be able to maintain humidity levels of about 50%. However, with Safe-Dri, I couldn't get it below 65%. The blue crystals would turn pink inside two weeks, over and over. That's crazy, especially when a big bucket of Damp-Rid (which sells for $10), will last about four months. Another issue is the recharging. The directions say to put it in the oven and then, after you've recharged the crystals, to let them cool inside a Ziplock bag. I'm not sure what Ziplock bag the manufacturer used, but the first time I put the crystals in the Ziplock, it immediately melted the ziplock bag and ruined the tablespoon full of crystals I put in. This might be great for a handgun safe, but for your long guns, go with Damp-Rid. January 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by No Complaints Works great, don't know why everyone else is complaining. Lid says on just fine and crystals work as product describes. January 4, 2013

I left the can in my oven for 4 hrs last night @ 250. Maybe only a dozen or two only turned back blue. This is the second time I did this. I purchsed the product only 4 months ago. Do I have some bad beads and if so, can I return to swap out??

For better result's use a cookie sheet, this process take's about 1 to 1 1/2 hour's. Just pour the canister out onto cookie sheet, know this is a little more of a hassle to pour back into the canister, I use a plastic one gallon bag, but still is a bit of a hassle. Hope this help's.

Not all the crystals change color, and in fact, most of them do not. There are a handful of indicator crystals that turn from blue to pink. 99% of the crystals are clear and remain clear.

I poured the beads into a small baking pan, set the toaster oven to 250, and in about 40 minutes, all of the pink beads had changed back to blue. Piece of cake!

A:
You are supposed to remove the can when in the oven. To help speed the process, try putting them in a cookie sheet (with raised edges) and following the same process (also be sure to crack the oven door to draw out moisture).
