RedHead® RCT™ 7'' Non-Insulated GORE-TEX® Waterproof Hunting Boots for Men
The best boots I've ever owned
I got this pair of boots about 2 years ago the day before a camping trip which is always a terrible idea. But not in this case. I have a group of friends that I go camping with a few times a year and we are self-proclaimed "hardcore campers". We go way off the trail for days on end with only what is on our bodies and what we can carry in hiking packs. Needless to say, we are always sampling new gear and clothing/footwear to find what is best. Every camping trip we do(aside from the hike in and hike out) a 14 mile adventure hike. So buying a pair of boots you've never tried out the night before a trip like this is... for the lack of a better word, is stupid. The camping trip put them to the test and they were as if they were pre-broken-in and tailored for my feet. No blisters, no rubs, no aches, no bunching, nothing but comfort and support yet extremely sturdy in very difficult and diverse terrain. Also they are very light weight and even after wearing them for days on end they do not become heavy. I work a manual labor job that requires good boots and I've been through countless brands, styles, and materials and my job destroys ALL boots within a couple of weeks. No exaggeration. Even steel toe styles. I also have a hobby (metal detecting) that is devastating to footwear and to the feet themselves because of the hundreds of holes I will dig with a shovel in a single hunt. I have had the exact same pair of boots for nearly two years now and they have stood, unchallenged, to every kind of boot-murder I could put them up to. They have never become uncomfortable, they have never lost any of their ankle or arch support. I literally only own this pair of boots as my footwear. I have no other shoes or boots at all. I have worn this same pair of boots in my everyday life, work, play, leisure, multiple camping trips and every single day for almost two years and these boots are simply unbeatable. I can't kill them. I occasionally even play street basketball in them! No joke. They are light weight enough and they aren't bulky. I have not only never owned a better pair of boots but I have never owned a better pair of any kind of footwear as good as these. Ever. Hands down the most comfortable, rugged, lightweight, durable boots I've ever had. In general even without work and destructive hobbies, I have always been hard on footwear but these just can't be destroyed. The tread is even still in tact enough that I don't slip in mud or wet grass or moss covered rock. Only now after 2 years, are they starting to fall apart(let me remind you this is the only pair of footwear I have owned for two years). The only thing wrong with them is that the stitching has started to come apart in a couple of areas yet the GORTEX liner is still fully intact and still water resistant. They still have the same laces in them from when I first bought them! One thing I would add to be totally fair: I would not describe these boots as totally waterproof. Very close though. Wet grass? No problem. Splash through a creek ankle deep? Not a problem. Stand in water for extended periods? You're gonna get soggy socks. I've read some really negative reviews on these boots and was shocked to hear what people had to say about them. Maybe I just go the magic pair? I'm about to buy my second pair in a couple of days for a camping trip and if they are like the first pair then I plan on buying them in bulk. For young active guys who enjoy hard work, hard outdoors, and hard play, you can't go wrong. sorry for such a long review, I just had to get my two cents in. p.s. I found these boots because they caught my eye. I really like the style. Most people who know me call them my "combat boots" because they do, indeed, have a resemblance to military boots. And I love that look. I've tried other boots like them but they never have that trim, lightweight style like a military boot once you actually put them on. But these do. They are not bulky at all. They make you look like a stud. Ok I'm finally done with my boot worship. Hope this helps. It may seem over the top but I really didn't exaggerate, they just have been THAT good for me.

I saw these online, read the reviews, liked what I read. So when the wife and I were over in Richmond by the Basspro store, I bought a pair. They were newbie-stiff, but fit well.
Unfortunately as I hiked to break them in and the new-boot stiffness went away, an inward-pointing "roll" developed in the material just under the ankle bone. As you walk, this "roll" flexes and pushes the top of the heel reinforcement cup into you just under the ankle and its gets worse each time I them. It's EXTREMELY painful ... you can still feel it an hour after a short hike.
So now I either take another day off and make the round trip drive to the store, or argue/fight over the phone to mail them in (probably pay shipping I'm sure, definitely have to take time going somewhere to mail them).
Pretty sad, since it looks like I'm the only bad review for these boots. I got the bad one... Guess I'll take another day off, make the drive, hopefully get some of my money back ... and then go somewhere else and buy a non-Redhead boot. I can't risk getting a replacement that might be from that same production run.

My pair, not so waterproof
Purchased these boots 12/2013, for the first 5 months they were the best boots ever - one of the most comfortable pair of boots I've owned. Then it warmed up and the dew started collecting on the grass in the mornings exposing a flaw in my pair. Started getting a wet toe box in the right boot every morning walking the dog. Maybe there is a flaw in the stitching or a glue seam, not sure, but a wet foot is not what I expect from GORETEX/waterproof boots. Not like I was submerging the boot either, we're just talking wet grass.
They have otherwise been a great pair of boots, so much so I was in denial for the past few weeks, trying to reason why this might be happening i.e. getting water over the tongue etc. but in the end, they were simply under-performing. Had to return, opted for a different pair.
