I would not recommend this product for general cleaning, as it isn't necessary. However, if you've made the mistake of forgetting to clean your gun and pulled a corroded mess out of your gun safe, this product can save your gun. I purchased this foam in an attempt to rescue my barrel from being pitched into the garbage can. It took quite a bit of work over a few days, but in the end, the barrel came out clean and is once again stacking holes out at 100 yards. Well worth the cost and time investment.

Good stuff, makes cleaning easy and quite thorough. If you let the powder set for long, you will have to let the foam set for several hours, or simply repeat the process another time or two.

Does an excellent job breaking down the residue, but it recommends you run a cleaning patch through first, let this stuff soak 20-60 minutes, then run dry patches though until they come out clean. By the time you did all this you could have just cleaned it with 2-3 cleaning patches and had it done much quicker. I suppose maybe it would be helpful if your bore was just CAKED with residue and you didn't want to run a few patches through it.

Don't sit there and scrub your muzzleloader anymore. Get the Redhead foaming bore-cleaner and get cleaning over with quicker.
I shoot triple7 powder which is also easier to clean.
