Our Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System represents a new approach to fleece fabrics. Its lightweight, breathable, low-bulk design is highly versatile: the lofty fleece interior provides next-to-skin softness, while the smooth exterior minimizes friction when layering. Moisture is transferred to the outside so you always stay warm and dry. The wide waistband has a soft, low-bulk feel and holds the fabric comfortably against your waist. A gusset in the crotch increases freedom of movement and eliminates binding and chafing. Leg cuffs are designed to minimize fabric bulk and seams, eliminating pressure points when worn inside boots. If the temp is near 0, I would add another layer, and/or wear something heavier. The material is thin, but surprisingly warm for it's weight.

I would say you might be good with a size Large. My son has a size 36 waist and I purchased a size Large and X-Large to see what fit him the best -- Large was too small for him, so he kept the size X-Large. They are designed to fit snug against the body.

I am 5'10" and wear a 34 waist jeans. I wear the large size. You could probably wear the mediums, but I personally do not like my thermals to be skin tight.

I am 6' with a 36 waste and I bought the XL/TG size and they fit fine. I would not care if they were a touch bigger but In no way are they restricting.
